Cheng Tianguang agreed without a second word. "Once the styling is done, we'll go straight to the production department. Pick whatever you want from our current resources."
Cheng Yu said directly, "You can have the production department bring down the songs. They have nothing better to do anyway."
Cheng Yu pointed at Ling Yi and Qing Chen, who were sitting before the makeup mirrors and letting themselves be manipulated, more than happy to find work for his two newly recruited teammates.
Qing Chen and Ling Yi exchanged a pitiful glance. They had clearly grown accustomed to having no say in anything.
Cheng Tianguang looked helplessly at the decisive Cheng Yu, unable to tell whether this was simply Cheng Yu's personality or whether all heirs of prominent families were like this. Regardless of what Cheng Tianguang thought, twenty minutes later, the music production department came down to the dressing room as Cheng Yu had wished, bringing twenty songs from the company's reserves.
Cheng Tianrui even explained, "These were strictly screened by the production department. They're all high-quality songs that suit your group's singing-and-dancing style."
Cheng Yu knew little about this, so he handed the choice directly to his two teammates.
Qing Chen and Ling Yi exchanged looks again, feeling flattered beyond measure.
Cheng Yu looked at Zhu Jianxin and reminded him again, "Have my dorm ready before I get off work at two in the morning. The standard should be five-star—"
Cheng Yu paused, then changed his wording. "Four-star hotel, standard suite accommodations will do."
Cheng Yu looked at Zhu Jianxin with the considerate expression of someone saying, "I'm not making things difficult for you, so you may gratefully kneel and take your leave now."
Zhu Jianxin sucked in a sharp breath, clearly unable to appreciate Cheng Yu's thoughtfulness.
Since Cheng Yu had been excessively picky about his two teammates' styling, it was already two-thirty in the afternoon by the time the styling team finished according to his standards. Everyone was starving. More importantly, at this hour, the company cafeteria no longer had any hot food, and everyone had already resigned themselves to sneaking out for a belated lunch. Then Cheng Yu took a call and said to Cheng Tianguang, "I ordered delivery. It's already downstairs. Have security let them up."
Everyone, including the two President Chengs, looked at Cheng Yu in surprise. No one had expected someone who appeared so lofty, commanding, and unapproachable to think of ordering takeout for everyone. The styling team, who had secretly been cursing him in their hearts, was instantly moved. They burst into applause to show their gratitude.
When the delivery staff came upstairs, everyone was stunned again. Cheng Yu had ordered the Delicacies Banquet from the Pavilion of Prince Teng—a high-end restaurant rumored to charge at least twenty thousand yuan per table.
"This is way too extravagant!"
"This one meal costs several months of my salary!"
"What a rich guy!"
The stylists took the initiative to push together the unused tables in the dressing room. Without a doubt, Cheng Yu won over every foodie in an instant with two tables of takeout.
Amid the excited shrieks of the office workers, Cheng Yu clapped his hands. "Thank you all very much for your support and cooperation. You've worked hard."
"Not at all! Not at all! It's what we should do."
"Exactly. We even learned new styling techniques. Second Young Master, your fashion sense is absolutely flawless."
"Second Young Master, whenever you need styling again, just give the order! I'll come whenever you call."
The lead stylist, who had been completely won over by one of Cheng Yu's styling sketches, suddenly had an idea. "Your group was just established, so you probably don't have a dedicated styling team yet, right? Why don't the few of us just join you?"
"Yeah!"
"That's a great idea!"
"Hey, I'm in favor!"
The dressing room suddenly fell silent. The next second, the other stylists rushed to voice their agreement. They had completely forgotten how hungry and aggrieved they had been just minutes ago. One after another, they eagerly clamored to become Cheng Yu's personal inner circle.
The scene was practically a textbook case of Stockholm syndrome.
The two President Chengs looked at each other again. Whatever else could be said, Cheng Yu truly had an innate talent for managing people. They could not deny it.
Cheng Yu also felt that the styling team he had spent the afternoon training was fairly easy to use. If he could establish a dedicated team, it would save him from having to communicate everything anew with stylists every time he needed a look.
Cheng Yu pondered briefly and looked at Cheng Tianguang.
The stylists instinctively looked over as well. No one was stupid. Cheng Yu might be a newly signed rookie, but judging by how respectful and accommodating the two President Chengs were toward him, his background had to be extraordinary. On top of that, Cheng Yu had the looks, the ability, and a decisive, perfectionist approach to work. If someone like that entered the entertainment industry and did not become famous, there would be no justice in the world.
More importantly, Cheng Yu was exceptionally generous. What did people work for? Beyond the practical need to support themselves and their families, was it not to make a name for themselves in their field? And by working with Cheng Yu, whether in their grasp of fashion aesthetics or their understanding of trends, everyone could feel themselves improving dramatically. It was no exaggeration to say that in just a few hours, they had all undergone a storm-like baptism. And all of this had merely come from Cheng Yu casually training them because he needed a styling team to create looks for his two teammates.
It could be said that although they had only spent a few hours together, the sharper-minded among them had already seen Cheng Yu's potential and capability. Their request to join him might have partly been an impulsive attempt to go along with the crowd, but it was not without sincerity. If it worked out, they could latch onto a powerful backer. If not, they could still treat it as entertaining a big shot.
Either way, they had nothing to lose.
Cheng Yu understood these stylists' little schemes perfectly. He had encountered plenty of such people at work and did not mind. Qing Chen and Ling Yi, on the other hand, were two inexperienced kids. They had never imagined that the elite styling team, who usually acted lofty and barely acknowledged trainees like them, could be this enthusiastic. They were so absorbed in watching the drama that they nearly shoved abalone into their chins while eating.
Cheng Yu gave them a look. "Be careful when you eat. Don't ruin your makeup. After lunch, you still have promotional photos to shoot."
