Background

Jiang Fu'an began as a hunter and farmer in Xu Family Village. His first wife, Wang Lanhua, died after a difficult delivery of their son Jiang Xiangchun; he continued to blame himself for her death. He later married Su Wanqing and raised Stone, Jiang Xianghe, and Jiang Xiangyue with her. 1 3

His life changed when the Ancestral Home in his consciousness awakened. Its initial benefits gave him a longer lifespan, a Five-Element Spiritual Root, and the Devouring Physique, while its buildings created opportunities for his descendants and family line. 4

After Jiang Xianghe entered the Melodious Sound Sect, Jiang Fu'an used the court’s rewards and tax exemptions to expand his household, acquire farmland, establish a guard team, and build a larger residence. 8 9

Personality

Jiang Fu'an is a cautious patriarch who treats family survival as more valuable than wealth, territory, or cultivation opportunities. He refused to personally join Ma Ping’s campaign against the Rong Family, later warned his children that a spiritual vein was not worth risking their lives for, and fled when he witnessed a conflict involving Foundation Establishment cultivators. 19 95 108

He plans far ahead and prefers controlling crucial resources himself. He recruited displaced Miao Family craftsmen to secure talisman paper and cinnabar ink, cultivated the family’s talisman business, and built defenses around Clear Dew Mountain rather than relying wholly on outside protection. 21 79 112

His pragmatism can be self-serving: when treating Zhao Lintang, he posed as a pharmacist, demanded payment and secrecy, and used the situation to obtain cultivation techniques. However, he also continued treating her after her poison entered her heart meridians. 119 121

Appearance

Jiang Fu'an’s cultivation and lifespan rewards preserve a notably youthful appearance. At age thirty-seven, he still looked twenty-seven or twenty-eight; he deliberately grew a beard to conceal this discrepancy. 73

  • Maintains a youthful face despite his age and growing family. 73 121
  • Deliberately wears a beard to disguise his unusual longevity. 73
  • Possesses a body tempered to the toughness of a first-rank low-grade demonic beast after perfecting the first level of the Dragon-Tiger Body Tempering Art. 73

Abilities & Skills

Devouring Physique

A purple special physique that strengthens Jiang Fu'an through consumption and greatly improves his absorption of spiritual food and medicinal pills. 2 32

  • Qi-Nourishing Pills provide him far more spiritual power than they should for a cultivator with a Five-Element Spiritual Root. 32
  • Makes body cultivation particularly effective through spirit beast meat and medicinal resources. 37 73
  • Does not eliminate the danger of pill toxins; prolonged pill use accumulated life-threatening poison in his body. 73

Five-Element Cultivation and Spellcasting

Jiang Fu'an cultivates the Eternal Spring Technique while using the Five-Element Body to convert his spiritual power between elemental attributes. 33 78 79

Talisman Arts

Jiang Fu'an studies, produces, and teaches talismans, eventually making the craft a pillar of the Jiang Family’s economy. 43 96 112

  • Learned talisman drawing through repeated failure, beginning with the Lightness Talisman. 43
  • Uses the Talisman Saint Physique and Five-Element Body to draw talismans beyond the usual limits of his realm. 69 79
  • Drew a Fire Serpent Talisman whose detonation nearly equaled a Qi Refining Mid-Stage cultivator’s full-force strike. 89
  • Carries numerous first-tier talismans for combat and ambush prevention. 116
  • Refused to give the Wang Family his exclusive talisman methods outright, preserving the Jiang Family’s advantage. 124

Dragon-Tiger Body Tempering Art

A six-level body cultivation technique obtained from a storage pouch. It can be practiced from Qi Refining through Foundation Establishment Late Stage. 72

  • Its first level was perfected by Chapter 73, making Jiang Fu'an’s body comparable to a first-rank low-grade demonic beast. 73
  • By Chapter 83, he had perfected the second level, giving him a body comparable to a first-rank mid-grade demonic beast. 83
