Background / History

The Holy Spirit Cult is a long-hidden organization denounced throughout the continent as a den of evil soul masters. Its members historically relied on killing, soul-devouring, blood essence, and other harmful methods to cultivate, leaving the cult feared and hated by the public while it remained in the shadows. Shrek Academy's dominance over the “righteous path” prevented it from openly challenging the continent's established order. 21 22 33

Its central headquarters is concealed beneath the Evil Demon Forest, within an underground palace protected by forest barriers and baleful restrictions. The cult has also maintained a covert partnership with the forest's strongest ruler, the Evil Eye Tyrant Ruler; together, the human cult and ferocious beasts accumulated power in secrecy. Its true overall strength is stated to surpass Shrek Academy, the Body Sect, and the major sects of both empires, though its hidden nature kept this foundation unknown to the wider world. 23

Zhongli Wu encountered Li Changsheng after Shrek inspectors branded the youth an evil soul master because of his destructive martial soul. Zhongli Wu supported Li Changsheng, executed Lin Chen on his order, and then offered him the position of Holy Son, including access to the cult's disciples, resources, and foundations. 20 21

Li Changsheng accepted involvement with the cult only on the condition that Zhongli Wu and the leaders above him obey him. After meeting Ye Xishui and Long Xiaoyao, he revealed his divine lineage and overwhelmed the three leaders with destruction divine power. The leadership then submitted to him and agreed to reform the cult's practices. 22 27 29

Reform Under Li Changsheng

Li Changsheng's first demand after revealing his identity was that the cult abandon cultivation practices involving ordinary people's souls. Ye Xishui, Long Xiaoyao, and Zhongli Wu accepted, motivated by the divine seeds he gave them, which cleansed impurities from their bodies, extended their vitality, and came with the promise of eventual immortality through loyal service. 28 30

The cult's new decrees forbid:

Feng Ling later removed troublesome and disloyal members by assigning them to missions near Ye Guyi. Over seven days, hundreds of evil soul masters—including Soul Kings, Soul Emperors, and two Soul Sages—were killed by Ye Guyi, whose Holy Angel martial soul purified their evil energy. 47

Li Changsheng's Hidden Objective

Although Li Changsheng publicly reorganizes the Holy Spirit Cult, he does not intend to preserve it. He considers its evil-soul-master foundation irredeemably stained by blood and plans to use its accumulated strength against Shrek Academy before eliminating the cult itself. 34 43
