Background / History

Feng Ling was the Holy Spirit Cult's Vice Cult Leader and Zhongli Wu's wife in name. As one of the cult's highest-ranking members, she controlled numerous internal affairs and held authority beneath the three supreme leaders. Her marriage to Zhongli Wu was a mutually beneficial façade rather than an affectionate relationship; she had entered the cult alone and relied on his protection to establish herself at its highest level. 30 46

After Li Changsheng gained the support of Ye Xishui, Long Xiaoyao, and Zhongli Wu, Feng Ling accompanied him from the forbidden grounds. Learning that his martial soul was the Destruction Scepter and that he possessed innate full soul power left her deeply shocked, while his composure and unclear background intensified her curiosity. 31

Feng Ling later sought Li Changsheng out privately, hoping to secure an opportunity to transcend her present limits. She argued that, unlike the cult's entrenched leaders, she had no attachment to the Holy Spirit Cult and could ruthlessly destroy it if that served his plans. After correctly identifying his reforms as a means of hollowing out the cult before eventually discarding it, she offered him unconditional loyalty and service. 45 46

Li Changsheng accepted her allegiance but rejected her attempts at seduction. To prove her worth, Feng Ling used her vice-leader authority to quietly identify and dispatch disobedient, bloodstained evil soul masters into Ye Guyi's hunting range, removing hundreds of cult members within seven days. 47

Li Changsheng subsequently chose Feng Ling as his companion for an expedition to the Extreme North, both because her strength was sufficient and because he intended to test her.
