Appearance

His skin became dark and rough, his hair sparse and yellowed, and his face developed acne scars, age spots, and a greasy, rounded look 222. After returning from Sea God Island, he was transformed into a woman and became known as Tang Shan 279 280.
- Initially had thick black hair, later burned bald in places after Ma Hongjun’s flames 10 222.
- Developed a withered, unhealthy appearance matching his degenerated martial soul 222.
- His facial blemishes and scars were partially healed after returning to Shrek Academy 281.
- Was often recognized by his ragged clothing, haggard condition, and sparse hair after his later defeats 279.
Personality
Tang San is intensely driven by power, status, and the desire to reverse humiliation. Godhood System rewards repeatedly outweigh his embarrassment, moral hesitation, and even concern for allies; he rationalizes cruelty when rewards or soul-bone losses are at stake 5 42 85.
He is also resourceful under pressure. He uses Tang Sect techniques, evasive footwork, traps, and hidden weapons to compensate for direct differences in soul power 71 80 229. However, his repeated reliance on humiliating system missions destroys his reputation and fuels his resentment toward Lin Jiang, Xiao Wu, and those who reject him 72 173 244.
Abilities & Skills
Godhood System
Tang San is bound to the Godhood System, a subsystem controlled by Lin Jiang. It issues timed missions with rewards and punishments; Tang San can refuse a mission, but refusal triggers the stated penalty 1 166.
- Rewards have included soul-ring age increases, charm, spiritual power, and soul bones 3 9 27 214.
- Penalties can reduce soul-ring age, force bizarre bodily behavior, or inflict prolonged involuntary actions 5 127 166.
- Completed missions also provide feedback rewards to Lin Jiang, making Tang San an unwilling source of the controller’s growth 1 27 72.
Blue Silver Grass / Withered Yellow Grass
Tang San’s primary martial soul was Blue Silver Grass, used for battlefield control, binding, parasitism, and team coordination. After the failed Blue Silver King encounter, it degenerated into fragile Withered Yellow Grass 80 144 222 229.
- Blue Silver Entanglement — His first soul skill; its resilience improved as its soul-ring age increased 3 5.
- Spider Web Restraint — A venomous, adhesive web capable of temporarily immobilizing stronger opponents such as Tai Long 80.
- Parasitism — Plants seeds on a target and activates vines at a decisive moment to impede movement 71.
- Withered Yellow Cage — The fourth skill of his degenerated martial soul, used against Tang Hu 229.
- Limitation: The Withered Yellow Grass is extremely fragile and lacks the vitality and resilience of the original Blue Silver Grass 229.
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer, a second martial soul with immense weight and defensive presence. It helped him resist Titan’s soul-power pressure and was used alongside his hidden weapons against Tang Hu 85 229.
- Its hammer form had no soul rings when Tang San used it against Tang Hu 229.
- The Seventh Elder later attempted to strip Tang San of the martial soul after his hidden-weapon victory violated sect rules 230.
Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San retains techniques from the Tang Sect and relies on them to offset power gaps.
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — High-speed evasive footwork used to evade attacks, close distance, and predict movement 71 236.
- Mysterious Jade Hands — Hardens and empowers his hands for close-range combat and precision strikes 71.
- Mysterious Heaven Technique — Internal cultivation method that strengthens his body and supports his combat techniques 80 229.
- Controlling Crane, Seizing Dragon — A force-redirection technique; Tang San altered it into a direct low blow against Zhao Wuji 5.
- Push Window, Gaze at Moon — A grappling throw that uses an opponent’s momentum against them 80.
- Purple Demon Eyes — Enhances his perception and night vision; he used it to locate Ma Hongjun’s water cup and dispel Canghui Academy’s illusion 42 134.
Hidden Weapons
Tang San uses concealed Tang Sect weapons to create openings against stronger opponents.
- Dragon Whisker Needle — A tiny, powerful needle used against Yu Tianheng and Tang Hu 71 229.
- Zhuge Divine Crossbow — Used to provoke the Demon Ape troop 127.
- Mother-and-Child Soul-Chasing Death-Dealer — Used alongside the Zhuge Divine Crossbow against the Demon Apes 127.
- Yama’s Invitation — A poison weapon intended to kill Xiao Wu; she evaded it with Teleportation 174.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moon Night — Storage belt used to carry incense, hidden weapons, and other items 235.
- Eight Spider Lances — External soul bone; its lifespan increased by 100 years through a Godhood System mission 42.
- Two-and-a-Half-Year Chicken-Claw Left Leg Bone — System reward with the uncontrollable dance skill “Hit the Mud, Too Beautiful” 216.
- Two-and-a-Half-Year Chicken-Claw Right Leg Bone — Matching system reward with the same uncontrollable effect 216.
- Clear Sky Hammer — Second martial soul used as a weapon in direct combat 85 229.
Relationships
- Lin Jiang — Controller of the Godhood System bound to Tang San. Lin Jiang manipulates Tang San through missions, benefits from his completed tasks, and ultimately kills him 1 72 286.
- Xiao Wu — Once close to Tang San, but their relationship collapses after his system-driven conduct. Tang San later attempts to kill her, while Xiao Wu defeats him with Explosive Eight-Stage Throw 2 173 174.
- Tang Hao — Tang San’s father. He trains Tang San for two years, clears his meridians, and arranges the Blue Silver King encounter; their relationship is strained by Tang San’s failures and Tang Hao’s violent outbursts 92 214 220 222.
- Yu Xiaogang — Tang San’s teacher, whom Tang San publicly recognizes as his godmother. Yu Xiaogang accepts the role and later intervenes to protect Tang San from Yu Yuanzhen 27 104.
- Ma Hongjun — Shrek companion and frequent source of conflict. Tang San targets him with a laxative mission, travels with him to Sea God Island, and repeatedly rejects his unwanted advances 42 163 244.
- Titan — Chief of the Strength Clan and former servant of Tang Hao. Titan recognizes Tang San as young master, only for Tang San to attack him to complete a system mission 85.
- Tang Xiao — Tang San’s uncle and Clear Sky Sect Master. He initially accepts Tang San after learning of Tang Hao’s sacrifices, but Tang San is expelled after using hidden weapons against Tang Hu 226 230.
- Poseidon — Secretly supports Tang San’s Sea God trials by weakening the challenges and transmitting divine power, though Tang San mistakes the assistance for proof of his own exceptional destiny 246 253.
- Bai Chenxiang — Speed Clan member whom Tang San attempts to wager for in a speed contest. She defeats him with her Lightning Thunderclap soul-bone skill 235 236.
Story Role
Godhood System Binding and Shrek Enrollment
Lin Jiang selects Tang San as the first bearer of the Godhood System and immediately uses it to force humiliating tasks upon him. Tang San’s first mission makes him proposition Dai Mubai for his room and results in Xiao Wu kicking him into Dai Mubai’s fist 1 2.
At Shrek Academy, he accepts increasingly degrading missions for tangible gains: eating Oscar’s sausages, striking Zhao Wuji below the belt, repeating Ma Hongjun’s vulgar remarks, and recognizing Yu Xiaogang as his godmother 3 5 9 27.
Rise of the “Low-Blow Evil Lord”
Tang San’s duel with Yu Tianheng establishes his infamy. To preserve his third soul ring’s age, he repeatedly attacks Yu Tianheng’s lower body before piercing his groin with a Dragon Whisker Needle 70 71. Although he completes the system mission, Yu Tianheng’s retaliatory lightning blast knocks him unconscious, and the crowd brands him the “Low-Blow Evil Lord” 72.
He repeats similar tactics against Tai Long, Tai Nuo, and Titan, further ruining his reputation despite gaining system rewards 80 82 85.
Tournament Defeats and Isolation
Tang San’s underhanded methods continue during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. He cripples Canghui Academy’s members by attacking their “Magic Pills,” prompting the audience to pelt Shrek’s team with rotten eggs and spoiled vegetables 134.
His hostility toward Xiao Wu reaches its peak when he enters their match intending to use Yama’s Invitation against her. Xiao Wu evades the weapon and defeats him decisively, aided by her superior level-54 cultivation 173 174.
Family Training, Martial Soul Degeneration, and Sect Exile
After the tournament, Tang Hao takes Tang San to a waterfall for two years of training and personally clears his meridians to reinforce his foundation 214. Tang San’s Godhood System then pushes him to attack the Blue Silver King in pursuit of a Blue Silver Emperor evolution 220.
The attempt fails catastrophically: his Blue Silver Grass degenerates and disappears, leaving him with Withered Yellow Grass and a drastically altered appearance 222. He later enters Clear Sky Sect, defeats Tang Hu with a hidden Dragon Whisker Needle, and is expelled for violating the sect’s code of honorable combat 229 230.
Sea God Island and Final Death
A divine message offers Tang San and Ma Hongjun a chance to rebuild their foundation at Sea God Island. Tang San travels there determined to reclaim his “blood debt” against Lin Jiang 244.
Poseidon secretly removes most danger from Tang San’s trials, allowing him to mistake divine intervention for personal triumph 246 253. After leaving Sea God Island, Tang San returns to Shrek transformed into Tang Shan, but continues pursuing revenge until Lin Jiang kills him in the Star Dou Forest 279 280 286.
