History

Early years and debt crisis

The Chen Clan began as a small Yu Commandery cultivation lineage centered on Qingyuan Mountain. It maintained more than one hundred cultivators, while its mortal descendants in Pingyang County Town supplied new spirit-root bearers to the lineage. Its early survival depended on a small group of Qi Refining elders and a Foundation Establishment patriarch. 1

A disastrous Five Elements Essence venture left the clan burdened by debt, casualties, and injuries to its senior cultivators. Sixth Elder Chen Qingmeng’s failed Foundation Establishment attempt deepened the crisis. Rather than abandon the lineage, its leadership sold Life-Bound Dharma Artifacts and its members collectively contributed 5,673 Spirit Stones toward repayment. 2 3

Following the repayment of its debts, the clan began rebuilding its treasury through pill refining, spirit-peach production, market interests, and defended cultivation grounds. The clan’s End-of-the-World Tower and Cape Pavilion businesses became a major source of income, with the Ji Continent Market District shops earning nearly 200,000 Spirit Stones in annual profit after rent and taxes. 447
