Nature and Growth

Familiars begin as creatures selected or born through Xu Zhi's supernatural ability. They can hunt independently, accumulate Evolution Points, consume Attribute Cores, and evolve into stronger life-forms. Black Fruits provide especially large bursts of growth, though weaker Familiars cannot fully digest their energy at once 4 13 45.

Compatible Attribute Cores improve a Familiar's extraordinary affinity and support its growth. Cores of opposing attributes can reduce affinity, induce confusion, and make extraordinary abilities unstable 13. At higher levels, cores increasingly raise a Familiar's Evolution trait rather than directly filling its Evolution Point requirement 45.

Familiars do not all develop alike. Their growth reflects both their original form and Xu Zhi's expectations: Little One became suited to concealment and impersonation, Xiao Zhen to speed and decisive attacks, and Doggie to close-range combat and size reduction 386.

Master–Familiar Link

Xu Zhi and her Familiars share a highly synchronized bond. She can sense their emotions, issue direct commands when nearby, and use the Game Console to manage their actions at a distance. Familiars can also sense her intent and emotions, enabling coordinated responses without detailed verbal orders 22.

• Familiars can sense one another's locations, allowing Xu Zhi to coordinate them across Cloud City 20.
• Their presence improves Xu Zhi's physical condition as they level, including her hearing, stamina, and overall strength 4 5.
• After reaching Named One, Familiars can communicate accurately with Xu Zhi through consciousness 386.
• Enhanced [Authority] later lets Xu Zhi contact distant Familiars and send simple information to them 359.

Trait Extraction

Under special circumstances, Xu Zhi can extract a trait from a Familiar for her own use. Her extracted trait rises when the originating Familiar's version rises 4 5.

• Xu Zhi first extracts Bloodlust Lv3 from Little One; in her body, it lets her replenish herself with blood and temporarily gain strength, followed by weakness afterward 4.
• Extracted traits originally disappeared if the source Familiar died 4.
• Once a Familiar's traits become innate at Lv30, extracted traits become permanent and no longer vanish with the Familiar's death 121.
• Xu Zhi later extracts Vigilance Lv3 from Doggie 28.

Fusion and Familiar Tattoos

Xu Zhi can fuse with her Familiars, gaining their physical traits, extraordinary energy, and the authority to directly use their supernatural abilities 191.

• Fusion with four Familiars strengthens Xu Zhi's body, claws, teeth, hearing, and combat capability 191.
• Nightmare's traits allow Xu Zhi to render parts of her body incorporeal to avoid fatal physical attacks 191.
• Xiao Zhen's Instant Death can be used through Xu Zhi, though it consumes substantial extraordinary energy 191.
• Familiar tattoos can be repositioned as additional “eyes”; when connected to [Eye of Secrets] through [Authority], they give Xu Zhi near-blind-spot-free vision 200.

Hunting and Combat Support

Familiars function as Xu Zhi's primary offensive force, especially before she develops sufficient direct-combat power of her own 136.

• Little One subdues targets, carries Xu Zhi, hides in shadows, and acts as a large-scale close-combat threat 8 22.
• Doggie and Little One can overwhelm groups of superhumans through coordinated force 52.
• Xiao Zhen serves as a long-range scout, messenger, and aerial attacker 139.

• Xu Zhi — Master and creator. Her Familiars are absolutely loyal, respond to her commands, and grow alongside her; their bond also grants her physical and supernatural benefits 4 22 386.
• Narrator / Game Console — The system initially manages Familiar selection, leveling, extraction, and deployment. After the Game Console merges with Xu Zhi, she learns that Familiar was always one of her own supernatural abilities 223.
• Zhong Lingfan — Temporarily shelters and coordinates Xu Zhi's Familiars when Xu Zhi expects a battle beyond their current strength 190.
• One another — The Familiars are possessive of Xu Zhi and may shove or compete for attention, but they do not truly fight over her 386.

• Early survival: Little One's rapid growth confirms that Familiars exist in reality, giving Xu Zhi protection and companionship as she leaves her apartment and enters the Black Fog 4 8.
• Cloud City consolidation: Little One, Doggie, and Xiao Zhen help Xu Zhi defeat hostile superhumans, gather Attribute Cores, and establish authority over the Old Residential District 20 52 53.
• Aberration experimentation: Little Dummy gives Xu Zhi a means to study Aberrations directly, but its low Sanity, Restlessness, and later Agitation make controlling it a persistent risk 46 65 66.
• Battle against It: Xu Zhi fuses with her Familiars and uses their tattoos, traits, and abilities as part of her plan to disrupt and parasitize It 191 200.
• Separation and reunion: After Xu Zhi enters a world with complete Rules, her Familiars are scattered. Little One is the first to reunite with her, followed by the others in the Lost Land 204 239 368.
• Named One advancement: The Familiars hunt in the Lost Land, evolve to Named One, and gain stronger forms and consciousness-based communication with Xu Zhi 386.

• Familiars have no biological gender, despite forms such as Little One's girl disguise or Doggie's puppy form 28 386.
• A Familiar's Named One “title” is the name Xu Zhi gives it; unlike ordinary Named Ones, Familiars do not need renown or faith to receive a title 386.
• Little Dummy gains intelligence at Lv10 with only 1 point of Spirit 47.
