Background / History

Spirit Hall is based in Spirit City and is presented as the continent's sacred institution for soul masters. Alongside pursuing fallen soul masters, it guards the Star Dou Great Forest to prevent soul-beast tides. Its personnel include powerful bishops, regional temples, the Papal Hall, and the Worship Hall's seven great worshippers. 8

The institution pursued Zhao Wuji for more than a decade after he massacred the Qi Family and its servants. Sixteen black-robed bishops originally failed to capture him; Qiangu Aoshi later led red- and black-robed bishops in subduing him near Shrek Academy. 3 6

Spirit Hall's internal authority is divided between Pope Bibi Dong and Qian Daoliu's Worship Hall. The Worship Hall sought to establish Qiangu Aoshi as Holy Son after his unprecedented rise to Soul King, while Bibi Dong initially rejected the proposal on the grounds that he lacked merit and would divide her authority. 8 10 12

Qiangu Aoshi's capture of Tang Hao gave the Worship Hall the public achievement needed to force his appointment as Holy Son. Tang Hao was imprisoned in Douluo Hall, while Bibi Dong formally approved Qiangu Aoshi's title but withheld personnel and duties from him. 15 20

By distributing immortal herbs to Titled Douluo, Platinum Bishops, and Crimson Bishops, Qiangu Aoshi built a large faction within Spirit Hall. His support included Lingyuan Douluo, Ghost Leopard Douluo, Demon Bear Douluo, Chrysanthemum Douluo, and Ghost Douluo, further weakening Bibi Dong's position. 38 39

During Tang Hao's scheduled public execution, Spirit Hall used the Upper Three Sects' intervention as a trap. Seven Titled Douluo and more than ten thousand elite Spirit Hall soul masters surrounded the sect alliance, while the Worship Hall joined the conflict. 41 43

Following the destruction of the Upper Three Sects, Spirit Hall installed its personnel throughout the Heaven Dou Empire and then supported its southern campaign against the Star Luo Empire. Both empires were ultimately placed under Spirit Hall's administration through the formation of the Spirit Federation. 45
