Background / History

Irene entered Douluo Continent as a damaged remnant soul obtained by Ma Hongjun through his Sign-in System. The Soul-Enhancing Grass could only restore her gradually because her soul had been damaged too severely to revive at once. 2 10

Upon awakening, she found herself in an unfamiliar world with abundant magic power but only a fraction of her former strength. She sensed Acnologia's aura within Ma Hongjun and learned that her fate had become tied to his: if he suffered a fatal danger, she expected to share his fate. 13

Though initially disoriented, Irene immediately acted to suppress Ma Hongjun's first major Evil Fire outbreak. The effort nearly dispersed her newly manifested soul body, forcing her to retreat into Ma Hongjun's glabella to recover. 13 48

Her recovery accelerated after Ma Hongjun brought her to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Irene identified the remains of a fire dragon and ice dragon beneath the Well, then used High-Level Enchantment to absorb their origin energy. 58 66 Over the following years, she completed the absorption in seclusion and condensed a new physical body. 107

Irene first manifests to save Ma Hongjun from an uncontrolled Evil Fire eruption. She suppresses the flames rather than permanently curing them, warning that the backlash will become more severe later. 13

When the Evil Fire resurfaces, Irene can no longer suppress it. She forcibly arranges for an unidentified girl to help Ma Hongjun vent the fire, later heals the girl's physical injuries, hypnotizes her, and refuses to disclose her identity to him. 55 56

Conflict with Tang Hao

Tang Hao attacks Ma Hongjun in Notting City, but Irene emerges to block the killing blow. Although severely weakened, she fights Tang Hao evenly enough to make him retreat and accept her condition that he leave Ma Hongjun and Tang San alone. 46 47

Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well Recovery

Irene guides Ma Hongjun through Sunset Forest, drives away Soul Beasts with her aura, protects him from the poison formation, and carries him up the cliff leading to the Well. 57
