Background / History

Withdrawal from the Witch-Demon conflict

The Witch Clan emerges after the First Witch-Demon War with Di Jiang grievously wounded and the Demon Clan establishing the Heavenly Court. Hongjun's decree assigns the demons to govern heaven and the Witches to manage earth, but Di Jiang realizes that future Witch-Demon wars are intended to exhaust both races and resolve the Immeasurable Tribulation through their destruction. He therefore chooses to keep the clan hidden rather than contend for supremacy. 1 2

This policy initially conflicts with the clan's traditional outlook. The Ancestral Witches consider themselves Pangu Orthodoxy and the rightful masters of the world, while many demand immediate war against the Demon Clan. Di Jiang uses seclusion, provocation, and his superior strength to force them to confront their limitations and accept a period of cultivation. 2 5 6

After a thousand years on Mount Buzhou, Di Jiang acquires the Godslaying Spear and a Primordial Spirit cultivation art. The clan begins refining pills, artifacts, formations, and combat methods—fields previously neglected because Witches originally lacked Primordial Spirits. 3 4

Migration into Pangu Hall

As the Witch Clan's expanding population creates unrest that could ignite another Witch-Demon War, Di Jiang orders every clansman recalled to Pangu Hall. The returning tribes are led first by Great Witches such as Hou Yi, Kua Fu, and Xing Tian. During the migration, clan defenders kill multiple Quasi-Sage attackers, establishing that assaults on Witch Clan members will be met with overwhelming retaliation. 8 10

Pangu Hall's restrictions screen the arrivals, exposing Demon Clan agents, spies from great powers, and hidden Sage methods concealed among the population. Nearly one billion trillion returning citizens earn Di Jiang ten Sea-Calming Pearls, while the remaining population is subsequently transferred into the hall as well. 11 12

Di Jiang creates indistinguishable Twelve Ancestor Witch Clones and uses them to relocate the entire clan from the Primordial Wilderness. The disappearance shocks the Heavenly Court, whose deductions cannot uncover where the Witches have gone or how they can use spiritual treasures despite their apparent lack of Primordial Spirits. 12

The Thirty-Six Heavens and rise of the Witch Sages

Within Pangu Hall, the Sea-Calming Pearls become the Thirty-Six Heavens. Each pearl contains a small world capable of housing immense Witch Clan populations and supplying cultivation resources up to the Golden Immortal Realm; those who advance further enter Pangu Hall itself. 13

The clan continues cultivating while refusing pressure from the Three Pure Ones, the Western Sages, and other factions to rejoin the broader conflict. Their hidden progress produces multiple Witch Sages: Di Jiang first, Zhu Jiuyin next, and eventually all Twelve Ancestor Witches. Great Witches including Xing Tian, Hou Yi, Kua Fu, Xiangliu, Jiu Feng, Wind Earl, and Rain Master also reach the Ancestor Witch Realm. 18 34 36 41

When Hongjun infiltrates Pangu Hall to eradicate the clan, Di Jiang counters his attacks with the fused Law of Strength. The Eleven Witch Sages awaken and join the defense, revealing the collective strength the clan concealed throughout the Demon-Witch Calamity. 95

Later development

Di Jiang continues sharing his cultivation gains with the Witch Sages and guides the clan toward lasting prosperity rather than territorial domination. Xing Tian becomes a Witch Sage, then receives Pangu's Spatial Blood Essence from Di Jiang to support the restored Twelve Heavenly Gods and Demons Grand Formation. 114 118
