History

Hongjun attained the Dao as a Sage and announced the creation of Zixiao Palace beyond the Primordial World, inviting those with affinity to hear his teachings. 4 He established a three-part teaching schedule, each sermon lasting three thousand years. 7

During his first sermon, Hongjun became alarmed when the Ancestral Witches comprehended his Dao despite their supposed lack of Primordial Spirits. Repeated attempts to inspect them with the Creation Jade Disc failed, leading him to prioritize merging with the Dao and initiating the Karmic Tribulation. 8

At the second sermon, he taught methods of Sage ascension, including the Three-Corpses Method. Di Jiang’s unexpected rise to the Primordial Golden Immortal realm further unsettled him and strengthened his resolve to merge with the Dao quickly. 21 At his final lecture, Hongjun selected disciples, distributed treasures, granted Hongmeng Violet Qi to six chosen beings, and declared his coming merger with the Dao. 26 27

When he formally attempted the merger, the Eye of the Heavenly Dao manifested with a human-like expression of mockery and devoured him. 33 The Heavenly Dao later descended through an incarnation of Hongjun to demand Di Jiang surrender the Earthly Dao Treasured Mirror, destroy the Ancestral Witches’ Primordial Spirits, and submit to the Witch-Demon Calamity. 38 The incarnation was destroyed when Pangu’s True Body cleaved it with the Heaven-Opening Axe. 39

Free from the incarnation’s destruction but still bound to the Heavenly Dao, Hongjun mocked its injuries and persuaded it to cooperate against the Earthly Dao and the Witch Clan. 39 40 He later secured freedom to enter the Primordial World in exchange for arranging the Immortal-Demon Calamity, though the Heavenly Dao restored only the fourth level of his Sage cultivation. 43
