Background

Fei Yun initially operated through the Bounty Exchange, spending heavily to place bounties on Konoha's Four Great Clans and personally hunting targets as intelligence arrived. He regarded combat as both income and training; repeated battles improved his combat experience, ninjutsu proficiency, and chakra reserves. 11

At Hailin Wharf, he pursued Shimura Qiuqu for a thirteen-million-ryō bounty. After discovering Qiuqu's decoy Shadow Clone, Fei Yun killed the real target, fought the Konoha force that arrived to arrest him, and escaped through smoke bombs and Shadow Clones. The encounter exposed his Immortal Body to Konoha's shinobi. 14

His interest in immortality led him to infiltrate the Cult of Jashin. He sought Death Controlling Possessed Blood, believing its shared-damage effect would become formidable when paired with an Immortal Body, but left without the technique and looted nearly 300 million ryō from the cult's treasury instead. 15 16

Fei Yun is pragmatic, calculating, and intensely survival-oriented. He values a target's bounty and the strategic value of a fight over honor, and he will retreat rather than gamble his life against an opponent such as Might Guy when the reward does not justify the risk. 14 35

He is also ruthless in both combat and research. He killed Asuma after using Sharingan control to turn Asuma and Kurenai against each other, and his Soul Intelligence experiments repeatedly killed restrained test subjects without shaking his focus. 34 56
