Background / History

Qing Lin initially travels with Su Heng and the Desert Iron Mercenary Group through the desert. Although Su Heng is among the weakest members of the group, she feels safe around him and comes to regard him as an older brother after he protects her during a Snake-People ambush. When Su Heng is critically injured, she instinctively freezes the attacking Snake-Person with an eerie green light, saving his life. 3 4 5

Su Heng identifies her eyes as the Bi-Snake Three-Flower Eyes and teaches her their nature and uses. Qing Lin employs the ability to immobilize Snake-People and relieve pressure on the mercenary group, but the effort nearly causes permanent harm because she has no cultivation at the time. Despite her exhaustion, she insists on protecting the people around her. 5

Her power later allows her to subdue the Rock-Scaled Rattlesnake, whom she names Little Gold, during another desert crisis. After remaining with Su Heng in Black Rock City, she begins cultivating, receives a High-Profound Tier water-attributed cultivation method and Dou Technique, and learns to sense snake-type Magical Beasts. 9 10 18 20

Qing Lin accompanies Su Heng into the Magic Beast Mountains, where she tames the Fourth-Order Black-Armored Anaconda and helps intimidate the Sixth-Order Xuanjia Snake Emperor into surrendering its Origin Beast Flame. Her threat is initially a bluff—she lacks the strength to truly control the Snake Emperor—but her pupils’ suppressive effect is enough to force its compliance. 19 21 22

When the Heavenly Snake Mansion sends Green Man and White Fang to bring her back for training, Qing Lin refuses to leave Su Heng. She ultimately joins the mansion alongside him and becomes its Saintess. Before departing for the mansion, she completely erases the Xuanjia Snake Emperor’s consciousness and takes it as a servant. 41 42

Four years later, Qing Lin reunites with Su Heng in Holy Snake City. She openly resists Qing Yu, a powerful admirer whose interest she finds repulsive, and protects Su Heng after Qing Hong attacks him following Qing Yu’s defeat. 104 106 109

At the Heavenly Snake Mansion, Qing Lin forms a grandfather-granddaughter bond with the Soaring Serpent Ancestor. Following his death, she joins Su Heng and Medusa in refining Heavenly Snake Blood Essence, which elevates her cultivation toward the Dou Venerable realm. 110 112 113

In the Beast Domain, the remnant soul of a Nine-Headed Heaven Snake lures Qing Lin into a trap and attempts to possess her. She suppresses the soul with her pupils, but is poisoned by a controlled Nine Netherworld Python Dou Venerable. The Emperor Python Heart-Eroding Poison is later suppressed by Su Heng’s Eighth-grade Hundred Wards Pill, while Fenghuang treats her in the Heaven Phoenix Jade Wave Pool. Qing Lin eventually breaks through to Dou Venerable and continues refining the Nine-Headed Heaven Snake’s soul. 131 132 134 138

By the time of the Nether Serpent Earth Vein expedition, Qing Lin is an Eight-Star Dou Venerable. She takes control of Yao Xiaotian, the One-Star Dou Saint leader of the Nine Netherworld Python Clan, after Su Heng seals his Dou Qi and leaves him unable to resist. 185

Qing Lin is described as a delicate young woman with emerald-green eyes and a soft oval face. Her pupils contain three tiny pale-green flower marks, which become visible when her special constitution activates. 5

Qing Lin is gentle, obedient, and deeply attached to Su Heng. Even before gaining strength, she repeatedly pushes herself past her limits to protect him and the people she considers family. Her attachment begins with seeing Su Heng as a dependable older brother, then develops into romantic devotion after their separation and reunion. 3 5 41 104

She is compassionate toward her Magical Beasts and grieves deeply when they suffer or die. This empathy motivates her cultivation: she does not want to watch those close to her die helplessly again. 10 20 24

Her normally timid nature gives way to fierce protectiveness when Su Heng is threatened. She is willing to confront Qing Yu, restrain powerful members of the Heavenly Snake Mansion, and intervene against Qing Hong despite the danger. 41 106 109
