Background / History

Zhang Lexuan led a twelve-person Shrek Inner Court team into the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain Soul Rings. When the group was overwhelmed by a maddened 100,000-Year Soul Beast, she exhausted her Soul Power while maintaining morale and finally offered herself as a distraction so her surviving companions could flee. Qian Jue intervened before the beast could kill her. 1 2

Though initially alarmed by Qian Jue's Fallen Angel Martial Soul and extreme darkness aura, she recognized that he had saved the team. She tried to prevent Elder Xuan from attacking him and later risked herself to plead for Elder Xuan's life after his defeat. 2 3 4

Qian Jue spared Elder Xuan but bound Zhang Lexuan with a Word Spirit Contract. The contract made her his informant within Shrek and threatened to shred her soul and sea of consciousness should she attempt betrayal or removal. He then retained her as collateral for his demands against Shrek Academy. 5 6

While captive, Zhang Lexuan acted as Qian Jue's guide through the Star Dou Great Forest and Heaven Dou City. He ordered her to absorb the Bloodthirsty Dragon Lizard's Soul Ring, enabling her breakthrough to Rank 82, and she later returned the beast's 100,000-Year left leg bone to him without attempting to claim it. 6 8 9

Qian Jue repeatedly challenged her faith in Shrek Academy by showing her the Tang Sect's decline and Tang Ya's plight. His arguments about Shrek's inaction and its unequal treatment of darkness-aligned Soul Masters left her unable to reconcile her ideals of justice with what she witnessed. 13 14 15 16

He subsequently brought her to Shrek as a hostage during his assault on Sea God Island. Unable to move or speak under his pressure, she could only watch the attack unfold. Qian Jue released her during his confrontation with Mu En. 18 20

Zhang Lexuan is responsible and self-sacrificing. During the Star Dou Great Forest ambush, she continued encouraging her injured juniors after her own Soul Power was depleted, then attempted to sacrifice herself to give them a chance to escape. Her willingness to plead for Elder Xuan and accept Qian Jue's contract further shows her readiness to bear consequences for others. 1 4 5

She has a strong sense of integrity. Despite being Qian Jue's captive and finding a priceless 100,000-Year left leg bone, she immediately returned it to him because she considered it his rightful spoils. 9

Her loyalty to Shrek is sincere but increasingly conflicted. Qian Jue's revelations about the Tang Sect and Tang Ya force her to confront Shrek's inaction and the contradictions in its treatment of supposedly evil martial souls.
