Background / History

Chen Hai is the largely unknown patriarch of the ancient Sea God Clan, a hidden force in the deep sea composed of Tang San’s most loyal mortal believers. He worships at the clan’s underwater temple before a statue of the Sea God, where the Sea God Helmet is kept on an altar. His strength and the clan’s influence are sufficient to make top forces fear him despite his obscurity 25.

Three years after Qian Jue’s disappearance, Tang San manifests a divine projection before Chen Hai and orders him to execute Qian Jue for defying the gods and destroying an important token left at Shrek Academy. Chen Hai accepts immediately, pledging to hunt down and desecrate the “heretic” before Tang San’s statue. He takes the Sea God Helmet and begins his pursuit 26.

Chen Hai searches the continent for three years before the Sea God Helmet detects the divine-sense mark Tang San had previously placed on Qian Jue. He traces the signal to Qian Jue’s reappearance and confronts him in the sky 32 33.

Personality

Chen Hai’s defining trait is his fanatical devotion to Tang San. He treats direct contact with the Sea God’s projection as the greatest honor of his life and claims he would willingly die on Tang San’s command 26.

His faith makes him quick to anger at disrespect toward Tang San and initially overconfident in the Sea God Helmet’s divine power. During his first battle with Qian Jue, certainty gives way to fear when his strongest attacks repeatedly fail to keep Qian Jue dead 33 35.

Despite this, Chen Hai demonstrates resolve and battlefield leadership. At the Ming Dou Mountains, he recognizes that individual resistance is futile and rallies the surviving experts into a coordinated counterattack 45.

First Battle with Qian Jue

After locating Qian Jue, Chen Hai attacks with his Sea Martial Soul, Martial Soul Avatar, Sea God Domain, and divine artifact. Though he repeatedly destroys Qian Jue’s body, Qian Jue regenerates through Demonic Power. The battle lasts three days and concludes with neither side able to finish the other 33 35.

Ming Dou Mountains Trap

Following his recovery and report to Tang San, Chen Hai arrives at the Ming Dou Mountains amid rumors of divine inheritance. When Qian Jue’s false secret realm erupts with darkness, Chen Hai attempts to retreat but is caught in the catastrophe 40 42 43.

Chen Hai withstands the vortex and curse longer than most participants, then unites the remaining high-level combatants in a desperate attack. Qian Jue’s Word Magic suppresses nearly all of them, but the Sea God Helmet keeps Chen Hai standing 45 46.

Alliance with Niu Tian

As Qian Jue overwhelms him, Chen Hai is saved by Niu Tian. The two launch a coordinated pincer attack, with Chen Hai providing concentrated Sea God Helmet attacks from the flank. Qian Jue’s completion of the Demonic Fifth Trial breaks their stalemate and sends Chen Hai flying with worsened injuries 48 49.

Chen Hai continues resisting after Qian Jue advances to Rank 99 and unleashes mass destruction. He activates Sea God’s Light to shield himself and the combatants behind him from the descending storm of Demonic Fire feathers 51.
