The Undead pulled alongside the merchant ship, and large numbers of undead swung over on ropes.
They raised their weapons and hacked at the terrified pirates.
Bang! A Skeleton Warrior's skull was smashed apart, and Abel roared.
"They're just a bunch of skeletons. What's there to fear? Boys, follow me and smash all their heads to pieces!"
As he spoke, he swung his scimitar, smashing one Skeleton Warrior's skull after another.
But soon, a figure blocked his path, wielding two exaggerated scimitars twice the size of his own.
"Bloodhand Jack? You actually dared to put to sea without the Blood Glove? Aren't you afraid Michelle and the others will feed you to the sharks?"
Once Abel recognized Old Jack standing before him, he spoke. Both were renowned pirates. Though they had no real friendship, they had met a few times.
Abel had also heard that Jack had been hunted by Michelle's band of pirates, his mysterious item damaged, forcing him to hide on Pirate Island. He had never expected to encounter him here.
"Michelle? If they dare show themselves, I'll chop him to pieces."
Old Jack flashed a mouthful of big yellow teeth in a savage grin. His two enormous scimitars never stopped, slashing at Abel.
"Is that so? How much strength do you have left without your mysterious item?"
As Abel spoke, his already massive body grew even larger. Scales spread across his skin, his eyes bulged, his forehead protruded, and his eyes gradually shifted to the sides of his cheeks. His nose was covered by his jutting face, leaving only two small holes.
The teeth in his mouth slowly turned into sparse fangs, his huge mouth split all the way to the roots of his ears, and webbing grew between his fingers and toes.
He changed from a burly human into a Fishman over two meters tall. Jack's scimitars struck his scales, throwing up a string of sparks and leaving only a shallow notch.
"Hahaha! As you are now, you can't even break my scales. Have you decided how you want to die?"
"Tch." Seeing Abel's arrogant laughter, Jack merely sneered. His mental power stirred the Crimson Ring on his right ring finger, and red light flared, covering his body.
He swung again, knocking aside Abel's blocking scimitar and carving a long wound across his chest. A spray of blood immediately burst forth.
Abel cried out in agony.
Before he could fight back, seven or eight Walking Corpses pounced on him and pinned him to the deck.
These Walking Corpses had no instinct for self-preservation, and their strength was terrifying. Even Abel in his Fishman form could not break free immediately.
As Jack's scimitar was about to stab down at him, Abel opened his mouth and let out a piercing cry.
The next moment, the entire merchant ship shook. A huge tentacle stretched up from the seabed and lashed toward Jack.
With no time to dodge, Jack could only raise both blades before himself. Bang! His body flew away, smashing heavily into the outer wall of the cabin, breaking through it and tumbling inside.
"Pah, there really is a sea monster. So the legend was true."
Jack climbed to his feet. Aside from a slight tightness in his chest, he was uninjured. With the Crimson Ring's enhancement, his absurdly muscular body was far stronger than that useless Parker's.
"Captain, I can't handle this thing!"
Having just risen, Jack saw another tentacle smash through the cabin wall and whip toward him. He immediately shouted.
You can summon a sea monster, and I can summon the captain.
As he dodged the strike, a burning skull floated out from the Undead's captain's cabin and drifted above the sea.
The skull opened its mouth wide as countless water and fire elements gathered, forming a terrifying red-and-blue sphere fifty centimeters across before it.
Boom! The sphere shot out, kicking up a massive wave before plunging into the sea and reaching the sea monster beneath the merchant ship.
It was a strange creature with a huge shell on its back, shrimp-like claws and eyes, but a soft body like an octopus.
It also had enormous tentacles and was dozens of meters long.
Boom! After a muffled explosion, a massive five-meter-wide hole appeared in the sea monster's body. One huge tentacle was severed, making it shriek in pain.
The merchant ship descended into chaos as its wildly flailing, contracting tentacles lashed about. Abel had only just broken free from the Walking Corpses when a tentacle sent him flying toward Jack.
His scimitar had long since flown from his hand, vanishing who knew where. He slammed head-on into Jack's vicious grin.
Just as Jack was about to swing down and kill him, the entire merchant ship tilted sharply to the left with an ear-piercing creak, as though it might break apart at any moment. The angle had already exceeded sixty degrees.
Even Jack could not keep his footing and toppled straight to the right, passing Abel by.
Just as the sea monster below withdrew its tentacles to flee, a mass of shadow enveloped it. Countless thick chains extended from the shadow, locking it in place.
Then two consecutive Ice-Fire Annihilation Blasts exploded above its head, killing it instantly.
As the Shadow Binding vanished and the enormous sea monster began to sink, the Undead extended solid chains, bound the massive corpse, and dragged it toward itself. The part of the ship beneath the water split open like a giant mouth and swallowed the corpse.
On the merchant ship, Jack, sliding toward the rail, kicked off the rail hard and launched himself toward Abel, who was likewise falling from above. In midair, Abel seized two pirate scimitars.
The two clashed once more.
But before long, sensing the sea monster's death and recalling Jack's earlier shout, Abel realized Jack was not the ghost ship's captain. There was another captain, one even more powerful.
So he did not continue tangling with Jack. Instead, he charged toward the side of the ship, intending to leap into the sea.
He possessed Fishman blood and could survive perfectly well in the sea. Once he jumped in, no one would be able to catch him.
But as he passed through a patch of shadow, a chain stretching from within tripped him. At the same time, a black arrow shot in from afar and instantly pierced his heart.
His tall body crashed onto the deck. Clutching his chest, he writhed continuously as Jack approached with a vicious grin.
"Sea Monster Abel, farewell."
Squelch! Jack's enormous scimitar chopped into Abel's neck as he continued struggling. With his nerves severed, Abel's rolling and struggling ceased, leaving only instinctive twitches.
Just as Jack grabbed Abel's body and prepared to burn it as his own fuel, Yang Mu's voice rang in his mind.
"Your spirit has not fully stabilized yet. Do not burn another one for now. Bring his corpse back."
