The reason they had been able to move so quickly was Roderick's cooperation, ensuring that the sails could catch the full wind from any direction at any moment.
"Turn!"
Roderick roared without the slightest hesitation. As a seasoned veteran, he possessed an exceptionally sharp sense of danger and could analyze complicated situations with great speed.
Though he had no detailed information on the Undead, he knew this ability could not cover too wide an area. Rather than play hide-and-seek with the enemy in this black fog, it was better to leave it directly.
The enemy was highly likely to still have vision. After all, they had released this black fog themselves; there was no reason they would blind themselves as well. Remaining in the fog would likely leave them vulnerable to attack.
His instincts and analysis were undoubtedly correct. The Undead, which had been preparing to use the black fog to ram the Gale and take revenge, could only watch helplessly as its target departed.
However, just as the Gale was about to leave the black fog, a Floating Skull arrived above the ship.
Three Ice-Fire Annihilation Blasts shot toward Roderick, who was giving orders. A fierce gale intercepted them, holding them several meters above the Gale.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three deafening explosions rang out. Roderick, who had just blocked the three Ice-Fire Annihilation Blasts, suddenly changed expression as the Gale's hull suffered a tremendous impact and tilted to one side.
Meanwhile, on the deck of the Undead within the black fog, Yang Mu stood at the bow.
At the very moment the Floating Skull fired three consecutive Ice-Fire Annihilation Blasts, he had acted as well.
A black book floated before Yang Mu. Its cover bore a golden skull ornament, while silver patterns densely covered its surface.
The book opened, revealing two interlocked spell models on the exposed page. Each was incomparably complex, formed from sixteen runes and thirty-two variant runes arranged in a three-dimensional structure.
The two spell models nested within and influenced each other, forming a new composite spell model.
This composite spell was called Dark Spiral.
It consisted of Dark Domain Trap and Gale Cone, ultimately forming a five-meter-long black spiral cone with spell power exceeding two hundred degrees, already reaching the strength of a First Order spell.
Guided by Yang Mu's mental force, a five-meter-long black spiral cone appeared at the bow of the Undead, aimed at the Gale at the edge of the black fog.
The instant the Ice-Fire Annihilation Blasts erupted, Dark Spiral slammed into the Gale's hull as well, blasting a hole over ten meters wide through it and nearly Severing the vessel in two.
Perfect concealment and precise calculations.
Even Roderick could not help praising him inwardly. What terrifying experience and calculating ability. The moment the frontal attack erupted, his power had been thrown into disorder for an instant.
And that attack had arrived in that very instant. He had clearly sensed it coming, yet he had been unable to stop it. The enemy had even calculated his sensing range and reaction time with such precision. He was truly a terrifying opponent.
A Wind Blade swept past the Floating Skull, shaving off a piece of bone from its cheekbone. Even its Hollow state, which granted immunity to physical attacks, could not stop it.
Clearly, Roderick's ability only appeared to control the wind. In truth, it was far more than that and contained other mysterious elements.
The instant the Gale was struck and its hull tilted, a wild gale swept through it. Using the sails that had not yet been corrected, it actually turned directly, forming a straight line with the Undead and rapidly sailing out of the black fog.
The Undead wanted to give chase, but Yang Mu stopped it. The other ship was too fast. Even with Yang Mu's enhancement, the Undead still could not catch up.
After leaving the black fog, the Gale did not depart immediately. Dragging its damaged hull along, it used the cannons on its other side to fire into the black fog.
However, it found nothing. The Undead could move freely through the black fog and completely avoided the Gale's cannon fire.
After several rounds of bombardment, the Gale gave up and sailed away. Yang Mu did not continue attacking during this time.

Having learned from the first encounter, Roderick would not make the same mistake again. As a Formal Rank superhuman at the peak of Formal Rank, as long as he remained cautious, it would be difficult for Yang Mu to find another opportunity like before.
As for a direct confrontation, Yang Mu would not do that unless absolutely necessary. His current strength posed no problem against ordinary First-Order Lifeforms, but if he encountered a Peak First Order opponent, especially one inclined toward spellcasting, things could easily go badly.
Watching the ship sail away, the Undead dispersed the black fog and continued its return voyage.
"Pah, what a bunch of cowards."
Jack watched the escaping Gale and spat fiercely.
He had thought they were about to have another good fight, but the enemy had actually run away just like that. As a pirate, Jack had always been crazed and warlike.
Now that he had gained powerful strength, burning enemies could also strengthen him. The only reason he had not gone around killing people was because he was aboard the Undead.
"Yeah, cowards."
Higgs chimed in from the side. He and Jack were cut from the same cloth.
Yang Mu ignored the two of them. The matter was over, and he was about to return to the captain's cabin when Jack called out to him.
"Captain, you'd better take a look at this."
Just as Yang Mu entered the captain's cabin, Jack pulled out a wooden box from who knew where and followed him inside.
"What is it?"
Yang Mu looked at Jack as he entered. Jack shut the door before opening the box, revealing a box packed full of gold coins.
To ordinary people, they were merely normal gold coins. But in Yang Mu's eyes, black mist constantly seeped from them.
"Cursed gold coins? Where did they come from?"
Yang Mu took the box from Jack and examined it while Jack explained.
"We found them on the merchant ship. Those little brats didn't recognize them. These are Demon Sea Gold Coins, symbols of ominous legends. Any ship carrying them will be hunted by a ghost ship called the Black Sail."
While Jack explained, Yang Mu had already finished inspecting the box and its coins.
The coins were indeed cursed. Each one was more than half the size of a fist, with a skull stamped on one side and a crape myrtle design on the other. But the coins had not been cursed individually; they were part of a large-scale curse.
Until he obtained all the coins, even Yang Mu could not make use of them.
The reason Yang Mu had not noticed these coins before was simply because the box bore a seal that blocked the cursed aura emitted by the coins.
Snap! Yang Mu shut the box and put it away.
"Full speed ahead. Leave this place. We've been exposed. If you don't want to fight another ghost ship like the one you mentioned, you'd better hurry."
"Um, Captain, do we stand a chance?"
Yang Mu was speechless. After a long while, he finally said faintly,
"I can survive. As for the rest of you, that's hard to say."
"Understood, Captain. I'll go right away."
Hearing Yang Mu say that, Jack did not dare delay any longer and scampered off.
