"You're no good. I even had Barrel hold back his strength, and you still couldn't take it. Looks like my wish to see your flying knife skills won't be coming true."
With that, he burned the so-called knife craftsman Hisoka to ashes, gaining a bit of mental strength.
Hisss—sounds of sharp inhalation rose from all around. The pirates watching the show had guessed Yang Mu might be strong, but they hadn't expected him to kill a great pirate like Hisoka as easily as slaughtering a chicken.
And how had that terrifying steel figure appeared?
"Look, isn't that Barrel? I remember he could turn himself into an iron man."
"Now that you mention it, it really is. Look at that big beard—it really is Barrel! Wasn't he supposed to be dead?"
Amid their chatter, Barrel charged toward Higgs and Marshall, who had drawn ever closer. Marshall was already panting heavily. He was merely an ordinary man wielding a transcendent weapon.
Higgs had been trying to close in on him the entire time, forcing him to dodge everywhere. Though firing could drive Higgs back for a moment, every shot was a gamble—a gamble on whether Higgs could reach him within three seconds.
Higgs could make many mistakes, but Marshall would die from just one.
Marshall, who had been pouring all his attention into Higgs, suddenly sensed something at his side. Already wound tight with nerves, he instinctively fired in that direction.
Boom! White smoke rose as a bullet the size of a longan struck Steel-Bone Tyrant Barrel in the chest, denting it inward.
But that was all. Clack—a bullet buried deep in Barrel's body fell to the ground, while Barrel's body returned to normal. Other than an extra white mark, he hadn't suffered any damage.
Barrel remained expressionless. He didn't even lower his head for a glance. Silently raising his arm, he swung it and smashed Marshall's head apart amid the man's desperate roar.
Other than Jack and Barto, who were still fighting, the entire scene fell silent. If killing Hisoka had displayed Tyrant Barrel's destructive power, then taking a Viper bullet head-on undoubtedly demonstrated Barrel's terrifying defense.
"Can a monster like that really be human?"
"Maybe. Either way, for the rest of my life, I'll stay far away from the Undead Pirate Crew. No amount of money is worth provoking them."
The murmurs around him reached Barto's ears. He had long wanted to retreat, but Jack clung to him like dogskin plaster, dragging him down without mercy.
The moment he tried to fall back, Jack raised the Bone Shield and led those armored walking corpses in to surround him. Whenever Barto tried to counterattack, Jack himself retreated.
After several rounds of this, Barto grew especially furious. His eyes began to redden, and his reason gradually slipped away. That was precisely Jack's goal.
Just as they understood the Jack of the past, Jack understood them as well. He knew the weaknesses in their abilities.
And once Barto lost his reason, he would be nothing more than a beast waiting for the slaughter.
But he didn't get to that point. A body even larger than his own, as if forged from steel, charged over like a tank. With footsteps that roared like thunder, it crashed into Mad Beast Barto's bear-like body.
Crack—Jack bared his teeth as he watched Barto get smashed into a nearby house. Even he felt pain for Barto at the crisp sound of bones breaking. At least half his ribs had been shattered.

Roar—bang bang! Roar—bang bang!
Within the dilapidated house, two enormous figures were brawling. Barrel ignored the bear claws striking his body and merely beat Barto with mechanical motions until Barto stopped resisting and died.
His soul, along with Marshall's, was caught in Yang Mu's hand.
"Higgs, that gun is yours."
"Jack, once you've found a place to stay, come to me. I'll give you a suitable spell model as the first spell model you inscribe."
"Now, take the wounded to get treated."
Yang Mu casually burned the two souls and stored Mad Beast Barto's corpse away. Undead Space could temporarily store corpses, but not for too long. Otherwise, the bodies stored within would automatically be transformed into the lowest-grade undead.
There was no helping it. Yang Mu still hadn't seen materials capable of crafting spatial equipment, so naturally he had nothing like a spatial ring.
Higgs happily picked up the gun. He was still in his merman form, and after picking it up, he was about to return to human form and test its power. But before he could do so, the gun actually changed on its own, adapting to the size of his palm.
At that sight, even Jack revealed an envious expression. The gun called Viper had power for all to see. Other than Yang Mu, who present wouldn't want it?
Higgs returned to human form, grinning as he tucked it at his waist. He burst into loud laughter and took the injured crewmen off to find a doctor.
Every crewman aboard the Undead secretly swore that they had to get started with the Dark Forge Meditation as soon as possible. Otherwise, all the benefits would be snatched up by Jack and Higgs.
Don't be fooled by the fact that Jack hadn't gotten anything. Everyone aboard the Undead knew that Jack was the one who had gained the greatest benefit.
Would anything that flowed from the captain's hands be ordinary? Believe it or not, if Jack spoke up, Higgs would be willing to trade the gun in his hand for this opportunity.
Higgs, who had been unable to put it down moments ago, would immediately slap it into Jack's arms, terrified that he might regret it.
Of course, Jack definitely wouldn't do that. He wasn't stupid. How could he not know what was good and what was bad?
Besides, he wouldn't dare do it. Did he really think the captain was easy to talk to, that things would go however he said? Wasn't he afraid of being beaten to death?
Jack was the most familiar with Shipwreck Island, so naturally he went to find them a place to settle down. Yang Mu didn't have the others who weren't injured follow him either, instead letting them go find their own fun.
The crew of the Undead wasn't short on money. Their share from every raid was enough for them to live it up for quite some time.
And since they had just returned from a long voyage and had looted the entirety of Pirate Island, every last one of them was now a wealthy lord.
Yang Mu walked alone across Shipwreck Island, just as he had once walked across Pirate Island.
Only, when he had first arrived in this world, he had been unknown. Now, even though he had never deliberately spread his name, the pirates around him kept casting reverent, fearful looks his way.
Even pirates who didn't know who he was could see that on Shipwreck Island, a gentleman's outfit and a civilized cane in hand were privileges belonging to the strong.
And rumors traveled faster than Yang Mu's footsteps. By the time he finally found a tavern he liked and sat down, the people inside were already discussing how he had just killed three pirates.
If his attire hadn't been so distinctive, these people might not even have known who he was while discussing him right in front of him.
