Jack stepped forward, the Heavy Armored Zombies close behind him. With the Bone Armor inscribed upon him, his strength surged.
With one slash, he knocked aside the blade swung by the opponent's tentacle, then reversed his grip and hacked into the tentacle, severing a section of it.
The Blood Moon Church cultist opposite him let out a muffled groan, yet still threw a punch at Jack's curved blade. The clash of metal rang out again, but this time, the one being suppressed had changed—and naturally, it was not Jack.
It was the Blood Moon Church cultist. The sound of bones cracking came from his forearm. With the dual enhancement of the Crimson Ring and Bone Armor, Jack's strength surpassed his.
The curved blade on the other tentacle struck Jack at the same time they exchanged blows, nearly splitting open his Bone Armor, but it failed to injure him.
Moreover, sustained by Jack's mana, the Bone Armor rapidly repaired itself and returned to normal in the blink of an eye.
Jack's Heavy Armored Zombies had also charged over, launching a flurry of slashes at their opponent. Jack did not stop attacking either.
Although the enemy had gained two extra tentacle arms, Jack had four additional Heavy Armored Zombies. After several exchanges, the Blood Moon Church cultist was driven back again and again.
Though he blocked nearly all of Jack's attacks, the zombies still left many blade wounds across his body. Blood poured out in great quantities, carrying not only a thick stench of blood, but also a fishy odor.
Jack ignored the abnormality in his blood. At that moment, he had only one thought: kill the bastard in front of him.
Finally, as the battle continued, the enemy exposed a fatal opening. Jack used a zombie to block a blow for him, closed in, and drove his blade into the man's abdomen.
He followed with an elbow strike to the man's cheek, stunning him. The zombie that had long been waiting at the side swung its blade at his neck.
However, those two tentacles seemed to possess independent consciousness and actually moved to block the strike. But it was useless. Jack struck as well. They blocked the zombie's slash, but not Jack, who was right in front of them.
With one slash, he beheaded the man. As the body slowly fell, the two tentacles on his back rapidly Withered. Jack felt no joy as he silently walked over to the already dead Higgs.
The young man who had just been slapped around and kicked about by him, always wearing that goofy grin, now lay there with his skull split open.
He had had a chance to save Higgs's soul. Jack believed that if he had obtained it, then with the captain's methods, even if Higgs could not be resurrected, he could at least continue living in another form.
Jack had experienced the deaths of comrades before, but pirate companions were entirely different from those aboard the Undead. On the Undead, there was no need for wariness. These young men might be vicious and cruel toward others.
But before him, each of them was simple and foolish. He had no children. Saying he treated them as his own might have been giving Jack's character too much credit, but he truly felt close to these young men—especially Higgs.
That was why Higgs's death had enraged him so deeply.
Creak—
Only then did Yang Mu's door open. Yang Mu calmly emerged from his room with two First-Order Undead.
He came before Jack and Higgs's corpse.
"Put away his body. Higgs will be the first Special Undead you personally modify. Burn the man you killed and use him to raise your spiritual power."
As Yang Mu spoke, five more figures appeared behind him: three Werewolf Ghouls and two Armed Skeletons.
"Kill them all."
At Yang Mu's command, the figures behind him moved. Within only a few breaths, screams rang out one after another. The Blood Moon Church cultists dressed as missionaries, along with the pirates watching nearby, were all killed.
More than a hundred corpses lay scattered around them.
Watching a spectacle—especially one involving a Necromancer—required strength. Otherwise, one might pay the Necromancer with one's life at any moment.
Yang Mu gathered all the souls in his hand. He lightly raised the hand holding his staff, then pointed it downward. A spell formation flashed at the tip of the staff and vanished in an instant.
"Zombie Reanimation."
At Yang Mu's low chant, the hundred or so corpses around him rose to their feet. Yang Mu calmly walked onward. Everyone he encountered along the way, no matter who they were, became targets of the undead.
Every so often, Yang Mu cast Zombie Reanimation. The army of undead under his command grew larger and larger. When his spiritual power was depleted, Yang Mu burned the souls in his hand and used them as spiritual power potions.
By the time he arrived at the Blood Moon Cathedral of the Blood Moon Church, more than three thousand Walking Corpses followed at his side, staggering behind him like a zombie horde.
No pirates dared approach anymore. A Necromancer on a killing spree was utterly terrifying.
Every district of Shipwreck Island had its own ruler. The rulers of several other districts had already been alerted by the disturbance.
Every one of them was Second-Order Life. At that level, they could no longer be eliminated through ordinary means. In this era, there were no weapons capable of destroying them.
But upon seeing the dense mass of Walking Corpses before them, they hesitated. Though those corpses were nothing in their eyes and could be easily killed, there were simply too many of them.
To gather so many Walking Corpses in such a short time, the other party's strength had clearly also surpassed the ordinary.
Obviously, the Blood Moon Church had offended someone, and a conflict had erupted between them. The others naturally took pleasure in their misfortune. After some thought, they chose not to investigate, lest they be caught up in it. They simply waited silently for the outcome.
Inside the Blood Moon Cathedral, the enormous hall built upon Shipwreck Island stood with its doors wide open. Numerous people dressed as missionaries stood within it, and beneath a bizarre statue at the very top—
An old man stood on the pulpit, dressed in a gradient-red robe. A huge red moon was emblazoned on both his chest and back. His eyes had no whites, only drifting red mist.
"Blasphemer, you shall be judged. You shall fall into endless illusion and suffer torment for eternity."
The old man spread his hands and spoke as though chanting. At the same time, an invisible force spread from his body.
Seven Black Pearls on Yang Mu's wrist shattered in succession. The sounds of breaking rang out continuously, and only the final layer of protection barely blocked the invisible attack.
"Second-Order Life. No wonder. No wonder you people have been acting so recklessly."
"You are the reckless ones. In the domain of the gods, you must obey the gods' will."
Before the old man above could speak, a missionary beside him jumped out first.
Whoosh. A streak of black light swept across. The upper half of the missionary who had spoken vanished, along with many people behind him. Everyone along that straight line disappeared.
Behind them, a black hole of unknown depth appeared.
"Since when did dogs get to bark when their master was speaking?"
