Background / History

Ron begins Hogwarts with a worn, cracked ash wand whose unicorn-hair core is exposed, and is unable to perform a basic Repairing Charm on his damaged suitcase. Professor Greengrass repairs it instead, leaving Ron impressed by the professor’s magic. 2

During his first year, Ron joins Harry in rescuing Hermione from a troll. Although Hermione claims responsibility for entering the bathroom alone, McGonagall awards Ron and Harry five points each for their courage. 8
