"Deal." Dai Chengfeng agreed at once, so quickly that Bibi Dong wondered if he had planned this all along. He smiled like a cat that had stolen cream, lowered his head, and kissed her hard on the lips. "My Supreme Pontiff, what a good girl."
Bibi Dong thumped him in annoyance, only for him to catch her hand and bring it to his lips to kiss.
"Oh, right." Dai Chengfeng seemed to suddenly remember something. He took an item from his robes and fastened it around Bibi Dong's neck. "This is for you."
Bibi Dong looked down and saw that there was now a necklace around her neck. The chain was made from some unknown silver metal, fine and smooth, while the pendant was a teardrop-shaped blue gemstone that gave off a gentle glow. She could faintly sense the immense energy contained within it.
"This is..."
"The Tear of the Wind God," Dai Chengfeng explained. "A thread of my Origin divine power is sealed inside it. When you encounter danger, it will automatically protect its master, and I'll sense it immediately as well, then rush to your side at once."
He paused, then looked at her with a serious expression. "Dong'er, promise me that no matter what happens, you won't take it off. Let me know you're safe, all right?"
Bibi Dong stroked the gemstone at her chest, feeling the familiar aura coming from within it, and warmth surged through her heart. She nodded softly. "All right. I promise."
Only then did Dai Chengfeng reveal a satisfied smile and pull her back into his arms.
The two of them sat beneath the tree in each other's arms, enjoying this rare moment of peace. The sunlight was just right, the breeze was soft, and a faint sweetness lingered in the air.
