Background / History
Family and upbringing
Bo Fuyu is the son of Liu Qin and Bo Zhao'an. Liu Qin resented both her husband and son, believing her pregnancy and marriage had cost her the opportunity to inherit the Liu Household; Bo Zhao'an was largely absent from Bo family affairs. 299
Raised mainly by household staff, Bo Fuyu endured Liu Qin’s harsh control from childhood. Her punishments ranged from denying him food or forcing him to stand outside to physical violence, with one particularly vivid memory occurring on his birthday. 298 299
After his childhood kidnapping and recovery, Liu Qin gave him an elite education and positioned him as her instrument in the struggle for the Bo Household inheritance. 299
School years
Bo Fuyu and Qi Si attended high school together for three years, though they were not close. Qi Si’s excellent grades despite frequent medical leave wounded Bo Fuyu’s pride and motivated him to begin studying seriously. 10
Appearance
Bo Fuyu is widely considered handsome; before Bo Yanqi became publicly visible, viewers regarded him as the most attractive member of the Bo Household. 177
- His appearance is said to combine the best features of Liu Qin and Bo Zhao'an. 299
- He is often publicly recognized as “Bo Shao,” reflecting his status as a Bo family young master. 135
Personality
Bo Fuyu is volatile, possessive, and highly sensitive to humiliation. He becomes especially aggressive when challenged over people or status he considers his own, including Shen Shuyu, Lin Weiwei, Qi Si, and his position in the Bo Household. 63 135 393
He habitually shifts blame outward. Even when his own choices lead to failure, he tends to frame himself as the victim of others’ schemes—particularly those of Qi Si and Qi Wang—rather than acknowledge his own misjudgment. 242 455
His arrogance is tempered by fear of stronger authority figures. He is notably obedient and restrained around Bo Yanqi and Liu Qin, reflecting years of abuse, dependence, and conditioning within his family. 86 87 239
Methods and Influence
Corporate maneuvering
Bo Fuyu entered the Bo family company after graduation and was initially considered a promising successor due to his family backing and apparent competence. 51 77
- He sought the North Suburb land held by Zhuang Hong in an effort to restore his position after losing Bo Yanqi’s support. 241 242
- He later seized influence within the Bo Household and launched aggressive moves to control Bo Corporation and target Qi Corporation. 365 366
- His rise depended heavily on outside support and alliances, leaving him vulnerable when those backers withdrew. 402 404
Retaliation and intimidation
Bo Fuyu uses personal influence and indirect methods to punish perceived enemies.
- He previously cut off resources from artists who displeased Lin Weiwei, including people who had no professional conflict with her. 239
- He arranged Zhao Qiang’s release and had Zhao Qiang provoked against Ning Jia, leading to the later attack on Ning Jia. 451
- He funded an online smear campaign against Qi Si after repeatedly failing to move against Qi Wang directly. 455 456
Limits
Bo Fuyu’s influence declines sharply without Bo Yanqi’s protection. His attempts to secure deals, retain allies, and claim control of Bo Corporation repeatedly expose his dependence on family resources and stronger partners. 242 244 456
Story Role / Major Arcs
Original lead and romantic conflicts
In the original novel’s framework, Bo Fuyu is the male lead opposite Shen Shuyu. Their childhood connection and engagement form the basis of the original romance plot. 1 84
His relationship with Lin Weiwei begins openly during the early story, creating conflict with Shen Shuyu and Zhou Linzhe. 18 81 Shen Shuyu ultimately seeks to cancel her engagement after revealing that Bo Fuyu loves someone else. 84
Bo Fuyu’s treatment of Shen Shuyu exposes his violent temper: he blames her for injuries he caused and attempts to strike her when she openly criticizes him. 63
Loss of Bo Yanqi’s support
Bo Yanqi originally regarded Bo Fuyu as a possible successor, largely because he appeared obedient, capable, and manageable. 77
After seeing Bo Fuyu’s conduct and hearing Qi Si’s objections, Bo Yanqi began reassessing him and chose to stop providing him assistance or financial support. 77 79 This decision destabilized Bo Fuyu’s position in the family succession struggle. 109 244
Childhood incidents resurface
Qi Si’s recovered memories reveal that Bo Fuyu’s actions contributed to several childhood tragedies. During a kindergarten bus accident, Bo Fuyu used Qi Si as a stepping stone while escaping, causing the bus to roll and injuring Qi Si and Shen Shuyu. 318
Shen Shuyu later recalls Bo Fuyu freezing in fear and crying during an attempted escape through a tunnel, alerting their captors and causing the children to be captured again. 276 When confronted about the bus accident, Bo Fuyu shows clear signs of recognition but denies remembering it. 242 243
Revolt against Liu Qin and pursuit of power
After joining other families against Qi Corporation, Bo Fuyu is violently confronted by Liu Qin. 297 He finally turns against her, accusing her of never treating him as a son and vowing to destroy the inheritance she values if he cannot possess it himself. 298 299
Although he admits that he lacks the ability to defeat the Bo Household’s other contenders without Liu Qin and Bo Yanqi, he turns toward revenge against those who have looked down on him. 300
He unexpectedly rises within the Bo Household and begins forceful “reforms” in A City, seeking control over both Bo Corporation and Qi Corporation. 365 366
Downfall of his alliance
Bo Fuyu’s apparent victory is undermined when the Jiang Family withdraws its support and Qi Wang begins dismantling his allied factions, beginning with the Xiao Household. 402
His claim to Bo Corporation is further weakened when Bo Yanqi reveals that he—not Bo Fuyu or Liu Qin—holds the corporation’s majority shares. 456 After further conflict with Bo Yanqi, Bo Fuyu leaves the Bo Household alongside Liu Qin, both having taken something from Bo Yonghao. 460
Relationship with Zhou Linzhe
Bo Fuyu and Zhou Linzhe begin as hostile rivals, repeatedly clashing over Shen Shuyu and Lin Weiwei. 58 124 Their relationship is later exposed online through photographs of them kissing, confirming widespread speculation. 466
The exposure leads to a physical confrontation between them and their expulsion from the Zhou Household. 467
