History

Reliving the past

Tang San begins the journey with a strained relationship with his son, Tang Wulin. He resents Huo Yuhao for changing events against his plans, while Tang Wulin protects Huo Yuhao because Huo had cared for him throughout his growth. To repair the father-son relationship, Tang San brings Tang Wulin through his own past and reluctantly permits Huo Yuhao to accompany them. 1

As a six-year-old, Tang San cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Technique in Holy Soul Village and leaves home to become a soul master after convincing Tang Hao. He initially enrolls at Nuoding Academy, where he meets Xiao Wu and vows to protect her even if it costs his life. 1 2

At Huo Yuhao and Tang Wulin’s urging, Tang San abandons the usual academy path and cultivates in the Star Dou Great Forest. Huo Yuhao’s pills, spiritual training, and arrangement of resources accelerate Tang San’s growth from a two-ring Soul Master to a twelve-year-old five-ring Soul King with five Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Rings. 3 5 8

Sea God and Asura trials

Tang San travels with Xiao Wu to Sea God Island to undertake the Sea God’s Nine Trials. After completing them, he returns as the Sea God and later enters Slaughter City with Xiao Wu. 8 39

Tang San and Xiao Wu each achieve one hundred victories in the Hell Slaughter Arena before surviving Hell Road together. They defeat the Three-Headed Bat King and Ten-Headed Fiery Snake through coordinated use of the Clear Sky Hammer, Purple Demon Divine Light, Zhuge Divine Crossbows, and the Sea God’s Trident. 39 40

After Hell Road, Tang San purifies Tang Chen with Sea God’s Light, learns of Ah Yin’s location, and reunites with Tang Hao and his mother. He subsequently resurrects Ah Yin at the Icefire Yin Yang Well by combining the Blazing Yang Spring, Extreme Ice Yin Spring, and Sea God’s Light. 40 41

Tang San later inherits the Asura God’s divine position. Xiao Wu bears part of Asura’s coldness and divine power, allowing the pair to become dual-god bearers at eighteen. 44

Clear Sky Sect and Tang Sect

Tang San challenges the five elders of the Clear Sky Sect to establish his right to speak. He defeats them, reveals nine Soul Rings, presents Tang Chen’s will, and is acknowledged as the sect’s chief elder; Tang Hao is also permitted to return. 41 42

Although Huo Yuhao establishes and expands the Tang Sect during Tang San’s divine trials, Tang San is recognized as its master. He returns to manage its operations after the Clear Sky Sect reemerges to resist Spirit Hall. 8 21 42

During the Heaven Dou Palace coup, Tang San helps expose Xue Qinghe’s treason and uses Sea God’s Light with Everlasting Vitality to heal Tang Hao’s old injuries completely. 44

When Spirit Hall attacks Jialing Pass, Tang San leads the Tang Sect’s Martial Hall into battle in defense of the Heaven Dou Empire. 46

Restarted journey

Following the war, Tang San agrees to Tang Wulin’s proposal to restart the Douluo World and experience the past differently, hoping to understand Huo Yuhao and improve his relationship with Tang Wulin. 47

In this altered journey, Tang San leaves Nuoding Academy after its rejection, travels with Xiao Wu’s family, Huo Yuhao, and Tang Wulin, and trains in the Star Dou Great Forest instead. He pursues Xiao Wu openly, carries her to the forest, cooks for the group, and survives Wu Tianjiao’s three-day test without seriously injuring any soul beast. 48 49 50

He joins Blue Silver Academy, leads its team during the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament, and displays his control abilities against the Heaven Dou Imperial Academy Team. 52 53

By the end of the journey, Tang San openly accepts Huo Yuhao’s actions and resolves not to make things difficult for him again. His relationship with Tang Wulin also becomes much closer. 58 59

Personality

Tang San is deeply protective of Xiao Wu and repeatedly treats her safety as his foremost responsibility. His first response to the possibility of enemies pursuing her is that they must step over his corpse, and he later risks himself to shield Huo Wu from a potentially fatal attack despite having no romantic interest in her. 2 50 56

He values “respecting history” and initially resists Huo Yuhao’s deviations from the original course of events. This belief contributes to his suspicion of Huo Yuhao and his early friction with Tang Wulin. 1 2 8
