Background / History

“Black Pearl” is a stage name inherited through four generations of courtesans. The first Black Pearl was a pirate queen—the daughter of a Sealord’s son and a Summer Islands princess—who became Prince Aegon IV’s mistress and bore a daughter. That daughter became a courtesan, establishing the lineage that Bellegere later inherited. 10 30 31

Bellegere is the fourth Black Pearl and bears the Otherys name. Through Aegon IV, she is a very distant relative of Viserys Targaryen; despite her youth, her generation is several degrees senior to his. 30 31
