They had worn gloves the whole time, so no fingerprints would be found at the scene. A few gang members dying would not prompt the NYPD, with its inefficiency, to come looking for her to test for gunshot residue.
After returning to the apartment, she once again declined the maid's offer to scrub her down and stood beneath the showerhead, washing away the discomfort of killing for the first time.
She had no intention of causing trouble, yet trouble had come looking for her.
After showering and putting on a bathrobe, she went online and searched the location the tattooed man had provided.
The other side was highly vigilant. This place was a blind spot for surveillance cameras, and after searching the vicinity, she found no obvious signs of people coming and going.
Madam Gao was one of the five fingers of The Hand, an elder expelled from the sacred land of K'un-Lun. She looked frail and ancient, as if a gust of wind could knock her over, but she had actually lived for more than four hundred years—a bona fide Ming Dynasty native.
She was adept at using "chi," capable of sending huge boulders flying through the air. Those were Madam Gao's abilities. Four centuries spent traveling every corner of the world had made her proficient in every martial art. With chi empowering her, her strength, speed, and reflexes all received a massive boost.
Daisy did not particularly want to provoke an enemy like that, but they had already met. Every subordinate Madam Gao had sent had been killed, making Daisy highly suspicious.
Besides, Madam Gao was no cop. She did not care about evidence, only results.
Daisy had to strike first. Even if she could not kill that old monster, she had to drive her out of New York.
Over the next few days, she deliberately observed the area from afar through binoculars. The other side was extremely secretive, but traces would always be left behind.
As expected, this was a cocaine processing plant. Daisy estimated that the interior was very large, but from the outside there was only a small door, guarded by two burly men carrying submachine guns. The security was extremely tight.
Every night at midnight, the small door would open, and a blind man carrying a shoulder bag would stumble out to make deliveries. This was Madam Gao's business in New York.
Seeing that the deliveryman's eyes had been gouged out, Daisy was filled with fury. That old monster deserved to die!
She did not act rashly. The Punisher liked playing the lone hero, not her.
She had been an ordinary civilian in her previous life, and she had no desire to play hero in this one either.
Daisy needed the police's help.
Although New York had more dirty cops than anyone she had ever seen, there still had to be a few good ones.
She did not use hacking skills. Instead, she began screening names from the police department's public website.
George Stacy was the Director of the NYPD, Gwen Stacy's father, and Spider-Man's future father-in-law.
He would originally have been a good helper, but unfortunately, he held a high position and was always out attending meetings. Daisy simply could not meet him through ordinary means.
Of the remaining well-known upright cops, she only remembered one—Big Daddy—but unfortunately, he had already left the force.
After carefully picking through the options, she finally set her sights on patrol officer Bright Mahoney from Hell's Kitchen. This Black man was one of the few cops who did not take bribes.
He was Daredevil's friend, a good cop dedicated to maintaining order in Hell's Kitchen.
Daisy had seen him before. After all, her previous self could be considered one of the locals, though they were not familiar with each other.
Bright walked around the street corner. Daisy slightly adjusted her own frequency, making herself seem especially friendly and trustworthy, then quickly walked over.
"Hey, Officer." She looked somewhat flustered, as though she had found a savior.
"I know you. What's the matter?" The Black officer saw her face and thought for a moment. In their eyes, all members of the Chinese diaspora looked more or less alike. If Daisy had not been genuinely beautiful, he would not have recognized her at all.
Daisy cautiously looked around before lowering her voice. "I found a processing plant. They're exploiting disabled people to manufacture and sell drugs, and the operation is huge..."
At first, Bright wanted to rebuke her for talking nonsense. A case like this was not something a young girl could get involved in, but the favorable impression created by Daisy's vibrational frequency made him restrain himself and listen.
After hearing her out, Bright was sweating profusely. Whether the matter was true or false, it would be difficult to handle, since he was only a patrol officer.
Though he found it hard to believe, he spoke frankly. "I'm just a patrol officer. If your information is solid, you need to file a report at the station. Shall I take you there?"
Why would I come to you if I could just file a report at the station? The moment she filed one, someone would tip them off. Daisy once again pitied the Black man's intelligence.
But she could not directly tell the Black patrol officer that the NYPD was rotten with corruption.
"Don't you need evidence? Come with me tonight and take a look at the site. After all, I don't have a gun or much ability to fight..." Daisy began playing the helpless victim.
Bright thought it over and found it reasonable. If he simply reported it now and the information proved true, that was one thing. But if it was false, he would be in trouble too.
If he went to the scene now and verified whether the information was true, then no matter how the case was ultimately handled, the credit would not escape him.
Even upright people needed promotions. Who wanted to be a patrol officer for life?
He looked Daisy over. She really did look like a delicate young girl, so he immediately nodded and agreed.
Late that night, Daisy and the Black patrol officer hid inside a small building. Two hundred meters away stood Madam Gao's cocaine processing plant.
"That is the plant you mentioned? It doesn't look very large," Bright asked.
Daisy smiled, feeling an overwhelming intellectual superiority. "Look at the building's height. It's a meter taller than an ordinary residence. Don't you think that's strange? I calculated the electricity supply and drinking water consumption in the area. There must be a huge underground space beneath it. Conservatively speaking, it could hold over a hundred people."
While they were speaking, the small door opened. A skinny man holding a white cane slowly emerged, tapping out a tap tap sound against the ground.
In the dim night, the blind man carried a large bag slung across his body and staggered forward.
As Daredevil's friend, Bright had met blind people before. He could tell that this man was genuinely blind.
"This guy is the deliveryman you mentioned? But why...?"
Daisy sneered. "Why use blind people? Blind people won't be searched, and even if they're caught, they won't receive severe punishment. Besides, they weren't born blind..."
Having seen it with his own eyes, Bright no longer had any doubts.
If a few blind people were running a massage parlor, they would not hire two hulking men to stand guard at the door. There had to be something wrong behind that small door.
Daisy drew him a diagram as well. "That blind man will get into a car at the second intersection ahead. As for where the car will take him, I don't know."
She had not provided many clues, but every one of them pointed to the same thing: this was a major case, and there were people behind it responsible for manufacturing, processing, and selling who needed to be arrested.
The Black patrol officer looked at her. Daisy nodded with a strong sense of justice.
"If it's really as you say, this is too big for the precinct to handle," he said hesitantly.
"You think the information will leak?" Daisy asked.
The Black patrol officer nodded. No one was stupid. Cops who took bribes would always reveal some tells. Their colleagues could all see them; they simply chose not to expose the truth.
