I'm an Assistant, Not a Hacker

Zhu Yu slowly pushed himself up, using the desk for support.

"Assistant Zhu, are you okay?" Only after clocking in did Su Duoduo remember Zhu Yu, and she hurried over.

Zhu Yu tugged at the corners of his mouth, trying to force a smile onto his face. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Everyone should focus on their work!"

If I hadn't just arrived in this world and still been unfamiliar with everything, I'd have told you to try stepping over my head again.

Zhu Yu carried his bag into his office, only to find an unwelcome guest the moment he stepped inside.

"Young Master Shen?" Zhu Yu wondered if he had not fully woken up. Why was such a big shot sitting in his office?

"Yo, Assistant Zhu. Good morning. I came to sort out yesterday's documents. I didn't finish them last night, so I left. I'm not disturbing you, am I?" Shen Jingyan sat on the sofa with one leg crossed over the other.

"Not at all. Not at all," Zhu Yu replied through gritted teeth.

"By the way, what's that girl's name? I'll give you three minutes. I want all her information." Shen Jingyan put down the file in his hand, stroked his chin, and stared straight through the glass window at Su Duoduo outside.

"What an interesting woman," Shen Jingyan remarked.

"Sorry, I can't find anything," Zhu Yu said numbly.

[You're so capable, so why can't you gather her information yourself? Three minutes? Give me three hours and I still couldn't dig anything up. I'm here to be the company's assistant, not your hacker, thank you very much.]

[An interesting woman? I've got an interesting man for you. This is seriously killing me. Does this nonsense ever end?]

"Assistant Zhu, you're not very capable, are you?" Shen Jingyan shook his head at the refusal.

Zhu Yu smiled upon hearing that. He quietly walked behind Shen Jingyan's sofa, stretched out his arm, and locked him in a chokehold. "You're the incapable one! You are! I'll show you whether I'm capable or not. I'll choke you to death!"

"I already didn't sleep well last night. Then first thing this morning, Su Duoduo stepped right over my head. And now you're ordering me around just because some woman is interesting. You've probably never seen an office worker lose it before. I'll let you see it now."

"I'll say this one more time: I'm an assistant, not a hacker. Don't force me to slap some sense into you."

"Ah!" Shen Jingyan had not expected to be put in a chokehold so suddenly, and he struggled on the sofa.

Next door, Shen Jingmo had only just closed his eyes to rest for a few minutes when he once again heard Zhu Yu complaining.

Shen Jingmo rubbed his temples, finished dealing with the documents in front of him, then picked them up and headed for Zhu Yu's office.

Zhu Yu's office was unusually lively now.

The male and female leads were flirting with each other.

When Shen Jingyan saw his older brother arrive, his urge to argue with Zhu Yu gradually died down.

"Hello, Assistant Zhu. Let me introduce myself. My name is Feng Shiling, though you can also call me Annie. I'm a new employee, here to complete my onboarding with you."

"My résumé is here. It includes the school I graduated from and my previous employers. You can rest assured and assign any work to me." Annie sat gracefully on the sofa and placed her bag in front of her chest.

Zhu Yu looked at the woman before him. If the name Feng Shiling did not sound familiar, then Annie was far too familiar. Wasn't she the second female lead from the novel?

Annie, the second female lead—born into a wealthy family, graduated from a prestigious school, rich, and beautiful.

Zhu Yu looked at Annie, then at Su Duoduo, who was sitting at her workstation hugging a dog-shaped pillow and yawning.

Does the male lead have some kind of eye disease? How can you not be interested in such a beauty?

"Annie, right? I believe you're from the Finance Department. The Finance Department is downstairs. You may have come to the wrong floor," Zhu Yu said as he looked over the form before him.

"I know I'm supposed to be downstairs, but my grandfather spoke with Grandpa Shen and asked for me to work on the top floor. Maybe I was too eager, and Grandpa Shen hasn't told Brother Shen yet. But it's fine. Please feel free to arrange a workstation for me. There shouldn't be any problem." Annie smiled as she explained.

Zhu Yu nodded at that. Just as it had been in the novel, he led Annie to the only two remaining empty workstations. Perhaps it was fate, but the empty stations were right beside the female lead's desk. After pondering for a long time, Zhu Yu ultimately decided to leave one space between them.

Now he could only pray that the male lead would not come over again.
