Zhu Yu had made it through an exciting and perilous day. It was also on this day that everyone in the assistant office learned that Assistant Zhu, famous for always smiling like an angel, had a temper too.
Zhu Yu happily carried his work bag out of the company doors. Before leaving, he even smiled and said goodbye to the front desk staff.
Seeing that the sky was still bright at six in the evening, Zhu Yu took out his car keys and unlocked the door. He placed his bag in the passenger seat, sat in the driver's seat, and started driving home.
Six in the evening was peak time for waiting at traffic lights.
Zhu Yu was stuck at who knew which traffic light intersection.
Although he was stuck in traffic, the thought of going home still made Zhu Yu unable to stop himself from feeling happy. He even hummed a little tune, "Going home, going home, I'm going home. Off work, off work, I'm getting off work."
Zhu Yu counted down the seconds as he watched the traffic light turn green, then slowly started the car and drove forward. He had a driver's license in his original world too, but he had never had the money to buy a car. In this world, though, he had both a license and a car. He had practically reached the peak of life.
Before he had even crossed the zebra crossing, a girl holding a white cane walked straight into his path. Fortunately, Zhu Yu had been driving slowly and braked in time.
Yet in just a few seconds, the woman in the little white dress was lying in front of Zhu Yu's car.
Zhu Yu was terrified. Did I hit someone?! What do I do? What do I do? Call 120 first.
--[What do I do?! I hit someone! Which hospital is closest? City Central Hospital. Dial 120.]
On another broad road, Shen Jingmo was sitting in the back seat handling documents when Zhu Yu's terrified voice suddenly rang out in his mind.
Shen Jingmo put down the documents in his hands and carefully considered the meaning of those words. Zhu Yu had hit someone?
Without having time to think further, Shen Jingmo directly told the driver, "Go to City Central Hospital now."
"Yes, President Shen." The driver decisively made a U-turn.
Zhu Yu took a deep breath and hurriedly got out of the car. But when he reached the front of the vehicle, he realized that this woman had clearly been nearly several meters away from his car. So she had fainted on her own? Had he run into a scammer?
Resigned to his fate, Zhu Yu carried the woman into the car, turned around, and drove toward City Central Hospital.
Zhu Yu drove straight to the hospital entrance, opened the door, picked up the woman, and ran inside.
"Doctor, doctor!!! Help! This person fainted! Hurry and save her!" Zhu Yu ran straight to the hospital reception desk.
When the doctor at the front desk saw someone unconscious, they quickly called for nurses to bring over a stretcher and carry her inside.
The doctor hurried over as well and carefully examined the woman lying on the hospital bed.
After the examination, he frowned at Zhu Yu. "What's going on? How could you let your girlfriend become malnourished?"
Zhu Yu was completely dumbfounded. What girlfriend? He did not have a girlfriend. After his brain processed it for a moment, he realized the doctor had mistaken him for someone else. He hurriedly waved his hands. "Sorry, you may have misunderstood. She isn't my girlfriend. She fainted on the road, so I brought her to the hospital."
Only then did the doctor's frown ease, though his expression remained somewhat stern. "I wonder what kind of parents this girl has. They've let such a fine young girl become malnourished."
"Exactly, exactly. Doctor, I'll condemn them with you." Zhu Yu knew full well that he could not refute a single word from an authoritative expert. The only solution was to follow along with what he said. If you could not win an argument, join it—this was a universal truth.
At the entrance of City Central Hospital, Shen Jingmo had just gotten out of the car when he spotted a white sedan with its door open outside the hospital. Wasn't that Zhu Yu's car?
Shen Jingmo shut the car door and entered the hospital lobby. He asked a staff member whether a young man had just carried someone inside.
The young nurse nearly became starstruck when such a handsome man spoke to her. Fortunately, professional ethics stood firmly before her. "A man did carry a woman in just now. It's the second room after turning left on the second floor ahead. You can go take a look."
"Okay, thank you." Shen Jingmo thanked her and headed toward the location.
Inside the room.
Zhu Yu stared blankly at the girl receiving a glucose drip. What was all this? A disaster out of nowhere, a disaster out of nowhere!
Shen Jingmo looked at the person sitting blankly in the chair and quietly knocked on the door. "Knock, knock, knock."
Zhu Yu thought the older doctor had returned and hurriedly stood up. When he saw Shen Jingmo, his expression brightened with surprise. "Why are you here too?"
"I came to visit an elder. I saw your car at the entrance." Shen Jingmo did not elaborate.
Zhu Yu nodded. See, this was the difference between ordinary people and big shots. A big shot could remember exactly what a car looked like, while he could not even remember a license plate clearly.
