Background / History

Tang San was born on the Douluo Continent when the Asura God sent the soul of “Otherworld Tang San” into his newborn body. A future version of Tang San, calling himself the Sea God and Asura God, attempted to seize the body but was prevented from completing the possession. 40

A later rebirth account identifies him as Luo San, an assassin reborn into a poor but loving family. Tang Hao murdered Luo San’s father and grandparents and destroyed the family home; Luo San survived, was rescued by Spirit Hall, and began cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eyes to pursue revenge. 140 141

Tang Hao eventually recognized Tang San through his use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill. The two discovered that they had both been reborn with differing memories, then aligned their ambitions around Tang San inheriting the Asura Godhood and restoring the Tang Family’s power. 143 144

At his Martial Soul Awakening, Tang San inherited the Clear Sky Hammer but awakened a Scabby Giant Lizard rather than the Blue Silver Emperor he expected. He interpreted the abnormal Martial Soul as a possible Asura God trial and chose to continue using Yu Xiaogang for his connection to Bibi Dong. 302 303

Before any anticipated Blue Silver Emperor transformation, Tang San is described as dark-skinned and physically misshapen, with a persistent foul odor that he unsuccessfully attempts to conceal with perfume and foundation. 143 145 306

Tang San is intensely calculating and treats relationships as strategic assets. He continues associating with Yu Xiaogang not out of respect, but because Yu Xiaogang’s bond with Bibi Dong may provide leverage against Spirit Hall. 145 303

He publicly maintains the appearance of a dutiful disciple while privately despising Yu Xiaogang. When his master becomes poisoned, Tang San secures the Datura Snake’s soul ring before treating him; later, after losing the Eight-Spider Lance, he cuts off Yu Xiaogang’s ear and demands that he retrieve it. 308 339 341

Tang San is confident that fate favors him as the Child of Destiny and successor chosen by the Asura God. He believes continental upheaval will ultimately create the conditions for him to become its savior. 331

His attachment to Xiao Wu is possessive and obsessive. He reacts with jealousy to her closeness with Da Ming and Yu Tianheng, while repeatedly trying to raise her favorability through gifts, labor, and apologies. 306 330 350
