Background / History

Tang San was born on the Douluo Continent when the Asura God sent the soul of “Otherworld Tang San” into his newborn body. A future version of Tang San, calling himself the Sea God and Asura God, attempted to seize the body but was prevented from completing the possession. 40

A later rebirth account identifies him as Luo San, an assassin reborn into a poor but loving family. Tang Hao murdered Luo San’s father and grandparents and destroyed the family home; Luo San survived, was rescued by Spirit Hall, and began cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eyes to pursue revenge. 140 141

Tang Hao eventually recognized Tang San through his use of the Mysterious Heaven Skill. The two discovered that they had both been reborn with differing memories, then aligned their ambitions around Tang San inheriting the Asura Godhood and restoring the Tang Family’s power. 143 144

At his Martial Soul Awakening, Tang San inherited the Clear Sky Hammer but awakened a Scabby Giant Lizard rather than the Blue Silver Emperor he expected. He interpreted the abnormal Martial Soul as a possible Asura God trial and chose to continue using Yu Xiaogang for his connection to Bibi Dong. 302 303

Appearance

Before any anticipated Blue Silver Emperor transformation, Tang San is described as dark-skinned and physically misshapen, with a persistent foul odor that he unsuccessfully attempts to conceal with perfume and foundation. 143 145 306

  • Extremely dark skin, compared to charcoal. 143
  • Long arms and short legs; his hands can touch the floor while standing. 143 145
  • Deep-set eyes and an unpleasant natural odor. 143 306
  • Uses perfume and pale foundation in an effort to approach Xiao Wu without repelling her. 306

Personality

Tang San is intensely calculating and treats relationships as strategic assets. He continues associating with Yu Xiaogang not out of respect, but because Yu Xiaogang’s bond with Bibi Dong may provide leverage against Spirit Hall. 145 303

He publicly maintains the appearance of a dutiful disciple while privately despising Yu Xiaogang. When his master becomes poisoned, Tang San secures the Datura Snake’s soul ring before treating him; later, after losing the Eight-Spider Lance, he cuts off Yu Xiaogang’s ear and demands that he retrieve it. 308 339 341

Tang San is confident that fate favors him as the Child of Destiny and successor chosen by the Asura God. He believes continental upheaval will ultimately create the conditions for him to become its savior. 331

His attachment to Xiao Wu is possessive and obsessive. He reacts with jealousy to her closeness with Da Ming and Yu Tianheng, while repeatedly trying to raise her favorability through gifts, labor, and apologies. 306 330 350

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses two Martial Souls.

  • Clear Sky Hammer — inherited from Tang Hao and proof of his Tang Family lineage. 302
  • Scabby Giant Lizard — a poison- and earth-aligned beast Martial Soul that replaced the Blue Silver Emperor he expected to awaken. 302 308
  • He avoids using the Scabby Giant Lizard in public combat when possible because of its appearance and smell. 331

Tang Sect Secret Arts

Tang San retains the Tang Sect inheritance from his previous life and relies on it even without using his Martial Souls.

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill / Technique — foundational cultivation method; its use convinces Tang Hao of Tang San’s identity. 141 143
  • Purple Demon Eyes — cultivated by absorbing eastern Purple Qi. 141 306
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — movement technique used to evade Dai Mubai and Bibi Dong’s attacks. 331 338
  • Mysterious Jade Hand and Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — retained secret arts associated with his former Tang Sect training. 140 353
  • Hidden weapons — forged and used in battle, including during his test against Zhao Wuji. 140 331 333

Poison Mist Spray

Tang San’s first soul skill is gained from the Datura Snake.

  • Poison-filled growths on his back burst to release a paralytic, lethal mist. 308
  • The mist kills vegetation and small creatures in its path. 308
  • Tang San considers the release method humiliating and intends to use the skill sparingly. 309

Giant Lizard’s Fang

Tang San’s second soul skill comes from a 600-year swamp A-Xi.

  • His teeth and saliva become filled with harmful bacteria. 330
  • A bite can infect a target until their body decays and they die after several days. 330

Divine Authority

As Sea God Tang San, he possesses the Sea Godhood and access to the Asura Godhood through Dual-God Unity.

  • The Sea Godhood depends on faith and weakens when hostile rumors erode his believers’ confidence. 296
  • The Asura Godhood is not solely under his control, as Xiao Wu functions as its scabbard and channel. 296
  • He intends to seize control of the Douluo Star Plane Will and use the Life Core and Plane Lord positions to secure Tang Family dominance. 245 264

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Clear Sky Hammer — one of Tang San’s Twin Martial Souls. 302
  • Tang Sect hidden weapons — forged from ironware and used alongside his secret arts. 140 306
  • Whale Rubber — supplied by Tang Hao; used to temper his body before absorbing stronger soul rings. 145 339
  • Eight-Spider Lance — Man Faced Demon Spider External Soul Bone briefly obtained as his third soul ring reward, then stolen by Bibi Dong. 337 338
  • Eight-Spider Spinal Bone — replacement soul bone later recovered through Yu Xiaogang; lacks the Lance’s ability to devour and evolve. 349 350

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — father and fellow reborn individual. Tang Hao follows Tang San’s plans, protects him while he is weak, and expects to act as his blade once he grows stronger. 115 143
  • Ah Yin — mother. Tang San asks her to assist Tang Hao’s seizure of the Plane Will after she possesses the Life Core; her loyalty later shifts toward Qian Xunyi. 264 297
  • Xiao Wu — Tang San’s claimed beloved and the channel for his Asura Godhood. His possessiveness clashes with her repeated rejection and manipulation of him. 296 306 330
  • Yu Xiaogang — nominal teacher whom Tang San publicly treats with respect while privately considering him expendable. Tang San uses his relationship with Bibi Dong as leverage. 145 308 341
  • Dai Mubai — reborn former companion who initially renews his loyalty after recognizing Tang San as the Child of Destiny, but later begins coveting Tang San’s godhood and Xiao Wu. 331 339 341
  • Bibi Dong — intended target of Tang San’s political manipulation through Yu Xiaogang. She instead steals his Eight-Spider Lance under Qian Xunyi’s orders. 303 338
  • Asura God — divine patron who sends Otherworld Tang San’s soul into his body and marks him as a chosen successor. 40 331
  • God of Destruction — Tang San’s political enemy in the God Realm, who opposes his interference in the Lower Realm and supervises his punishment. 296 297
