Background / History

Ye Lingyun awakened from an ancient cave roughly three hundred years before the present era, with no memory of his identity or origin. The cave contained mountains of cultivation methods and martial-skill manuals; even its lowest-ranked techniques were comparable to modern SSS-grade arts. He survived by mastering a Basic Breathing Method, then spent decades integrating the cave's inheritances into his own path. 209

After leaving the cave, Ye Lingyun entered a world where Mutated Beasts had begun overrunning humanity. He spent ten years consolidating human strength, founded Peak Martial Arts Hall, and temporarily suppressed the Mutated Beasts' offensive. He later traveled into the Star Sea, where he gained broader experience and “caused a little trouble” before returning to Blue Star. 210

Although publicly regarded as a Ninth-Tier Peak powerhouse, Ye Lingyun had already reached the Fifth Level of the Tenth Tier. He kept this strength hidden while preparing for the Black Dragon Emperor and protecting Blue Star from greater threats. 206 207

Appearance

Ye Lingyun appears to be only a little over thirty and is deliberately unassuming in dress and bearing until he reveals his presence. His aura, when no longer concealed, inspires instinctive reverence and the impression of absolute invincibility. 77 144

  • Ordinary, easily overlooked facial features. 77 144
  • Usually seen in simple black robes, a faded blue robe, azure robes, or white robes. 77 144 158 207
  • Often keeps his hands clasped behind his back and moves with unhurried calm. 77
  • Possesses eyes compared to a deep, star-filled sky. 77

Personality

Ye Lingyun is composed even under extreme pressure. He treats the Wilderness as familiar ground, confronts the Black Dragon Emperor without fear, and remains calm enough to mock him during battle. 147 207

He is deeply protective of humanity and Peak Martial Arts Hall. He founded the Hall during humanity's darkest era, personally intervenes when its members are threatened, and refuses to sacrifice his disciples' long-term potential merely to produce stronger fighters quickly. 143 162 210

Despite his authority, he shows unusual patience toward Lin Ming. Rather than forcing out Lin Ming's secrets after investigating his abnormal rise, he assures him that he has no intention of harm; later, he asks Lin Ming to call him “Brother Ye.” 147 149

Ye Lingyun can also be harsh and openly overbearing toward those he considers undeserving. He forces Mu Qiubai to kneel and dismisses the threat of Great Xia Academy's president. 159

Abilities & Skills

Tenth-Tier Martial Saint Cultivation

Ye Lingyun possesses Tenth-Tier, Fifth-Level cultivation, far beyond the Ninth-Tier Peak strength he allowed the public to believe he had. 206 207

  • Matched the Tenth-Tier Peak Black Dragon Emperor in direct combat despite a four-level gap. 207
  • Can fly through the skies using his physical strength alone. 149
  • His aura can suppress high-level martial artists and Beast Kings without a direct strike. 144 159

Dao-Entering Blade Technique

Ye Lingyun's blade technique has Entered the Dao, meaning it incorporates a trace of law-based power rather than relying solely on True Essence or domains. 208 212

  • Cut through the Black Dragon Emperor's attack with a seemingly casual strike. 206
  • Left a persistent blade wound that resisted the Black Dragon Emperor's healing and forced the Mutated Beast forces to retreat. 208 209
  • Demonstrated “momentum” with an empty-handed blade motion during his lecture, making the audience feel as if heaven and earth had tilted. 78

Will and Pressure

His will is powerful enough to terrify Eighth-Tier Beast Kings and immobilize them as though seized by an invisible hand. 144 145

  • Forced Mu Qiubai to kneel through overwhelming pressure alone. 159
  • Held three fleeing Eighth-Tier Beast Kings in place, enabling Lin Ming to kill them. 145 146
  • Summoned a thundercloud vortex and annihilated roughly a third of a Beast Tide with lightning. 144

Martial Arts Insight

Ye Lingyun possesses profound knowledge of martial cultivation, domains, the Star Sea, and realms above Blue Star's known system. 147 210 212

  • Explains that “momentum” originates in the heart and can develop into a personal domain. 78
  • Teaches that the Ninth Tier opens a domain, the Tenth Tier masters it, and the Eleventh Tier enters the Dao. 212
  • Revealed the Peak Tower's true nature as a damaged ancient Divine Artifact with a core inheritance. 161 162

Equipment / Items

  • Mu Qiubai — Adversarial. Ye Lingyun forces the Great Xia Academy vice president to kneel after he attempts to invoke Gu Xinghai's name as pressure. 159
  • Peak Martial Arts Hall members — Their leader and protector. He founded the Hall, oversees its Special Training Camp, and personally rescues and heals injured Inspectors after East Forest Base City's crisis. 146 210
