Shrek was founded roughly ten thousand years before the novel's present. Later-published accounts describe its early incarnation as an unlicensed academy without qualifications, resources, recognition, or eligibility for the Soul Master Tournament. Its replacement of Blue Tyrant Academy allegedly gave it access to the tournament; before the first-generation Shrek Seven Monsters enrolled, only forty-one students had graduated. 69 70
