A few minutes later, the two of them finished dinner.
Tatsuya Sakuya led Karuizawa Kei to a secluded corner.
At a table there sat a male and female student wearing Class 2-D uniforms.
The boy's uniform collar was slightly wrinkled, and his hair was a mess.
The girl hung her head dejectedly, poking at the bland boiled cabbage on her plate with her chopsticks.
Before them were nothing but "Free Fruit and Vegetable Set Meals for 0 Points," making them seem utterly out of place amid the cheerful dining atmosphere around them.
Tatsuya Sakuya gave Karuizawa Kei a look.
Karuizawa Kei immediately understood. She took a deep breath, and her lively eyes instantly shifted into an extremely natural, aloof coldness. She reached out and hooked her arm around Tatsuya Sakuya's, pressing herself intimately against him.
The soft sensation against his arm made Tatsuya Sakuya's heart stir slightly.
Without giving anything away, he stepped over to their table.
"Excuse me, are you two seniors from Class 2-D?"
Tatsuya Sakuya broke the silence first with a gentle, polite smile.
The two, who had been struggling to swallow their vegetables, abruptly raised their heads and warily watched the strikingly glamorous pair of attractive freshmen before them.
"You're first-year freshmen?"
The second-year boy frowned, his tone guarded.
"What do you want with us?"
"It's like this, Senior."
Tatsuya Sakuya pulled out a chair beside them, his tone sincere.
"We're from Class 1-D. Yesterday, our homeroom teacher announced the expulsion rules for the midterms, and our class's situation isn't looking good."
"So I wanted to ask whether you still have the actual exam papers for every subject from last year's first-semester midterms?"
At the words "actual exam papers," the second-year boy's eyes immediately lit up, as though he had spotted a lifeline falling from the sky.
He exchanged a look with his girlfriend across from him, and an unconcealable flash of greed and delight appeared in their eyes.
They did indeed still have the complete set of last year's exam papers. They had been worrying about how to get through this month with zero points, but now a fat sheep had delivered itself right to their door.
The boy suppressed his excitement, cleared his throat, and deliberately put on the airs of an upperclassman.
"Actual exam papers... We do have a complete backup set, including the answer keys. But, Junior, this is..."
"I understand. We can buy them with Private Points."
Tatsuya Sakuya smoothly picked up the conversation.
"What price did you have in mind, Senior?"
The boy held up two fingers in the shape of a cross and named an outrageous price. "One hundred thousand Private Points. Final offer. With this set of papers, your Class 1-D midterms will basically be secured."
Holy shit.
You really have the nerve to ask for that much.
Have I been too nice to you?
Of course, Tatsuya Sakuya did not say any of that aloud, because he was supposed to play the good cop.
Before Tatsuya Sakuya could speak, Karuizawa Kei, standing beside him, suddenly erupted.
"Hah? One hundred thousand points? Are you robbing us?"
Karuizawa Kei abruptly released Tatsuya Sakuya's arm, planted her hands on her hips, and openly dripped with venom and mockery. Her shrill voice made people at several nearby tables turn to look.
"You dare ask for one hundred thousand points for a few used pieces of worthless scrap paper? What, is this a robbery? Sakuya, did water get into your brain? You actually came to people like this to buy trash?"
The second-year boy was startled by her sudden scream.
"Junior, you can't put it like that. This concerns expulsion..."
"Who cares about expulsion? If anyone gets expelled for failing, it'll be those idiots in the class. What does that have to do with us?"
Karuizawa Kei stomped her foot in disgust, grabbed Tatsuya Sakuya's sleeve, and forcefully pulled him toward the exit as she said petulantly.
"One hundred thousand points could buy a whole bunch of the latest high-end autumn skincare products at the mall. If you dare waste points on this meaningless scrap paper, I'm breaking up with you today."
"Come on, hurry up and take me shopping."
Her harsh, cutting words, filled with utter contempt, landed like a resounding slap across the second-year couple's faces.
Watching Karuizawa Kei drag Tatsuya Sakuya away, the second-year boy completely panicked.
One hundred thousand points had indeed been an absurdly inflated price.
Because he knew how bargaining worked.
You started with a higher price so that, after bargaining, you could settle on an acceptable one.
This deal concerned a month's worth of food for himself and his girlfriend, so he had been extremely cautious.
"Wait, Junior, don't go yet."
The second-year boy hurriedly stood up and nearly pleaded.
"The price is negotiable. Fifty thousand... no, how about thirty thousand?"
Tatsuya Sakuya stopped walking. He looked somewhat troubledly at Karuizawa Kei, who still wore a deeply unwilling expression, then sighed and turned back to the senior.
"Senior, as you can see, my girlfriend has quite a temper. To be honest, I really don't have many points I can freely spend."
Tatsuya Sakuya held up one finger, his tone exceptionally calm.
"Ten thousand points."
"What? Ten thousand points? That's way too little!"
The second-year girl could not help but shriek.
"Then forget it."
Karuizawa Kei snorted coldly and started pulling Tatsuya Sakuya away again.
"Look at that. Free points are being handed right to them, and this senior sister doesn't consider the current situation at all."
"Unlike me, I only know how to feel sorry for giegie."
Karuizawa Kei gave Tatsuya Sakuya a symbolic wink and shook his hand.
"And besides, I heard the price over there is only five thousand."
Karuizawa Kei casually pointed at a pair of people near the free meal counter and made it up.
"No, no, no. Ten thousand it is, Junior. I can give you the papers and answers right now."
Afraid that Karuizawa Kei would really drag him away, the second-year boy pulled out his phone, sweat pouring down his face.
"I'll send you all the photos and documents for the exam papers right now."
The instant the other party lowered his head to take out his phone, Karuizawa Kei, standing at Tatsuya Sakuya's side, quietly turned her back.
She gave Tatsuya Sakuya a sly wink, a little devilish smile of triumph appearing at the corner of her lips.
Tatsuya Sakuya chuckled inwardly.
Karuizawa Kei truly had an extraordinary talent for acting and bargaining.
"Pleasure doing business." x2
Tatsuya Sakuya and Karuizawa Kei each extended a hand to the second-year couple across from them.
Afterward, the two left the cafeteria.
"Karuizawa, I have to say, you're really good at playing the villain. If I were that senior, you would've scared me too."
Tatsuya Sakuya was the first to start the conversation.
"Isn't it because you insisted on making me play the bad guy?"
"Still, pretending to be a couple with you felt pretty nice."
Karuizawa Kei muttered so softly that her voice was barely audible.
"What did you say? I didn't hear you."
"Nothing. I was just saying it casually."
"If nothing unexpected happens, I might need your help again tomorrow?"
"Huh?"
