Remember [Ai Qu Xiao Shuo Wang] for one second to enjoy wonderful novel reading.

There were all kinds of zombie infected in Left 4 Dead. They were the survivors' main enemies in the game. Here was an introduction to all infected types for those who had not played the game.

Hazmat Infected (HuitedInfected)

They wore protective suits, so fire and incendiary rounds could not harm them. Some carried bile that could be picked up after killing them. (They only appeared in the Dead Center campaign.)

Clown Infected (ClownInfected)

Their shoes squeaked, attracting nearby infected. (They only appeared in the Dark Carnival campaign.)

Mud-men (Mud-men)

They usually hid in the mud. Although they could only crawl, they were extremely fast. If survivors were attacked, their screens would be obscured by mud. (They only appeared in the Swamp Fever campaign.)

Worker Infected (WorkerInfected)

These infected wore earmuffs and helmets, making them unable to hear sounds and harder to hit in the head. (They only appeared in the Hard Rain campaign.)

Riot Gear Infected (RiotGearInfected)

These infected wore riot gear, and their various pieces of armor could block all frontal attacks. Some carried batons that could be picked up after killing them. It was almost impossible to kill this type of infected from the front; even headshots were useless. Knock them to the ground with a gunstock, then attack their backs. (They only appeared in the Parish campaign.)

Fallen Survivor (Furvivor)

These infected had once been survivors. Until their final moments, they believed they were immune, and they would actively flee upon seeing players. Killing them gave players some supplies, including Molotov cocktails, bombs, first-aid kits, and more. (They only appeared in the Passing campaign.)

Boomer (Boomer)

One type of Special Infected, characterized by its obese body, pustules, and gurgling cries.

Boomers moved slowly and had very low health. However, they could vomit on survivors. When survivors were vomited on, their vision was severely obstructed, and the bile could spread to other infected who had not been hit. The vomit's distinctive smell would also immediately draw a huge horde of zombies, which would treat survivors covered in bile as their highest-priority targets. When a Boomer was killed, its corpse exploded, knocking back anyone hit by the shockwave. (If there was an unguarded high ledge beside you, the Boomer's corpse explosion could knock you off and kill you instantly.) Furthermore, if survivors were too close to the Boomer, the bile from the corpse explosion would splash onto them and trigger a horde attack as well.

Hunter (Hunter)

One type of Special Infected, characterized by its hooded clothing. It was the fastest and most mobile of all Special Infected. While crawling, Hunters made distinctive and hair-raising cries. They could pounce from long distances and perform triangle jumps off walls and ceilings.

Hunters could pounce on survivors, pin them down, and continuously attack them. Pinned survivors could not save themselves and had to rely on other teammates to kill or shove away the Hunter. Otherwise, they would be attacked continuously until death.

Smoker (Smoker)

One type of Special Infected, with clusters of green spores around its body that formed green smoke. It coughed constantly, was slightly taller than average, and had a tumor on one side of its face. Smokers extended their tongues to bind and drag survivors.

When a Smoker dragged a survivor close, it also attacked the bound survivor with its fists. Additionally, if the bound survivor became caught on something while being dragged, they would take damage from the Smoker's constricting tongue.

Survivors hit by a tongue had only one second to break it and save themselves. After that, they could only rely on other players to kill the Smoker or shove and attack the bound survivor to knock away the tongue wrapped around them. Of course, other survivors could also attack and sever the tongue connecting the Smoker and the bound survivor.

After a Smoker was killed, the spore clusters on its body instantly spread out. The thick mass of spores obstructed survivors' vision. When survivors were trapped in the choking smoke, they coughed and could not use the built-in voice chat, though they could still talk through microphones.

Witch (Witch)

One type of Special Infected, with almost no clothing, a pair of bright red eyes, and blood-red claws. Left 4 Dead 2 had both daytime and nighttime settings. During the day, Witches cried while wandering around; at night, they crouched on the ground and cried. Within a certain range, players could hear a Witch crying.

Witches did not attack proactively, but they could be enraged by outside stimuli such as light, noise, attacks, and survivors getting too close. If survivors continuously shone lights or flashlights on a Witch, attacked her, or stayed too close to her for too long, she would become enraged. When overstimulated, she attacked the survivor who enraged her.

When a Witch attacked, she charged directly at her target, knocked them down, and continuously attacked them until death. (On Expert difficulty, a Witch killed her target outright.) Even if other survivors tried to block her path, she immediately shoved them aside. If the obstruction was severe enough, the Witch might even switch targets to the survivor blocking her way.

Tank (Tank)

One type of Special Infected, extremely large in size and characterized by thick arms and deep roars. It had extremely high attack power and health. Besides punching, Tanks could tear up the ground and throw chunks of concrete and rubble. Being hit by a Tank not only caused heavy damage, but its astonishing force could also easily send survivors flying.

Tanks could also use their immense strength to launch map objects at survivors, such as cars, tree trunks, and concrete pillars. They could destroy objects that infected and survivors could not, such as concrete walls and subway train doors. If special objects thrown by a Tank struck survivors, they were knocked down on the spot.

Charger (Charger)

One type of Special Infected, characterized by overalls, a huge body, an enormous right arm, a tiny left arm, and deep roars. It charged straight at survivors, grabbed them, and carried them forward until it hit a wall or another obstacle, then repeatedly slammed them into the ground. If other survivors blocked its path while it was charging with a survivor, they would be knocked aside.

Spitter (Spitter)

One type of Special Infected, characterized by a female appearance, an extremely wide mouth, green fluid constantly dripping from her mouth, and sharp cries. She could spray green corrosive liquid over long distances. When survivors touched the liquid, they continuously took damage until they left its area. When a Spitter was killed, the same green liquid seeped from her body.

Jockey (Jockey)

One type of Special Infected, characterized by a hunched back and strange laughter. It jumped onto survivors' backs and rode them. Ridden survivors wandered uncontrollably, though in Versus mode, the player controlling the Jockey controlled their movement. The Jockey also damaged survivors with both hands, and ridden survivors could not save themselves. When survivors were downed, the Jockey stopped riding them. If survivors were on a high building, beside a river, or in similar places, a Jockey could drag them directly off the building, dying together with them; or leave them hanging from a riverbank or high building in a downed state, requiring teammates to rescue them before they could move.
