History

Lu Li activates Taowu’s Demon Bestiary entry and gains Intransigent Qi while still an ordinary person. Its immediate manifestation saves him from a Mange Demon: his arm becomes bronze-colored and resistant enough to withstand the demon’s bite, allowing him to crush its face with repeated blows. The ability also enables him to fend off a stronger Dog Demon whose teeth cannot pierce his reinforced arm. 2

At first, the qi is controlled by thought and can be withdrawn into Lu Li’s dantian, returning his skin to normal. Withdrawing it also causes the suppressed pain to return. 2

Intransigent Qi later becomes linked to Weapon Lord. By draining durability from weapons, Lu Li can replenish and improve the qi; this process ultimately evolves it into a Field Domain after he absorbs the durability of iron shields at Rebirth Temple. 10 13 22

Abilities & Effects

Metallic Body Reinforcement

Intransigent Qi reinforces Lu Li’s flesh, blood, bones, and internal organs, turning the affected body parts bronze-colored and comparable to iron or steel. 2 31

• Greatly enhances defense, with lesser increases to strength and endurance. 2
• Suppresses pain while active, allowing Lu Li to continue fighting through injuries. 2
• Protects normally vulnerable areas; Flow-Ring Blade’s concealed crotch attack produces sparks rather than a wound. 12
• Allows Lu Li to withstand blades, boot-mounted weapons, and ordinary attacks that would seriously injure comparable Meridian Opening martial artists. 10 12 21
• Reinforces internal organs as well; even a sword through Lu Li’s heart is stated not to be fatal to him. 31
• Cannot reliably withstand attacks from opponents a major realm above Lu Li; Shuang Qiuyue’s astral qi is identified as potentially capable of breaking through it. 3

Strength and Endurance Enhancement

The passive effect doubles Lu Li’s force compared with his initial ordinary-person state and supports his direct, injury-trading combat style. 2

• Lets him overpower and injure demons despite lacking formal martial training at the time of activation. 2
• Reinforces Poison Blood Hand and other techniques, allowing him to break weapons barehanded and fight stronger Meridian Opening opponents. 10 12
• Combines with the Heart-Breaking Buddha Body to disperse the force of Huang Shang’s full-power strike. 25

Weapon Lord Durability Conversion

Intransigent Qi is directly connected to the Taowu Meridian-Opening Divine Ability, Weapon Lord. 9 13

• Drains durability from weapons touched by Lu Li and converts it into Intransigent Qi. 10
• The extracted durability improves the qi’s quality and contributed to its evolution into a Field Domain. 10 13 22
• Can reduce a weapon to brittleness or destruction after sufficient extraction. 10 26

Intransigent Qi Field Domain

Following its upgrade, Intransigent Qi can transform qi into force and form a Field Domain around Lu Li. 22

• Initially covers an area within three feet of Lu Li’s body. 22
• Greatly reduces opponents’ movement speed, strength, and internal-qi circulation within its range. 22 25
• Drains the durability of enemy weapons from afar, reinforcing the domain’s effects. 22
• Normally lasts for three minutes. 22
• Its range grows with Lu Li’s realm, with a stated maximum radius of one kilometer. 22
• Expanded from three feet to six feet after Lu Li drained Huang Shang’s knuckle guards. 26
• Stacks with Xuandu’s God-Devouring Blade Qi, Heart-Breaking Buddha Body, and Poison Astral Body for layered defensive, suppressive, and mental-interference effects. 24 25 38

Notable Uses

• Against the Mange Demon — Lu Li’s reinforced arm withstands its bite, enabling him to severely injure the demon and force it to flee. 2
• Against the Dog Demon — The demon’s teeth fail to penetrate Lu Li’s arm, though his lack of speed prevents him from easily landing decisive hits. 2
• Against Flow-Ring Blade — Lu Li withstands repeated blade strikes and a concealed attack on a vital point, rendering the assassin unable to breach his defenses. 12
• Against Huang Ling — Boot blades only tear Lu Li’s sleeves and leave shallow marks; Huang Ling’s weaponry cannot penetrate the reinforced body. 21
• At Rebirth Temple — Lu Li drains eight iron shields to trigger Intransigent Qi’s Field Domain evolution. 22
