Geography

The Central Plains are a vast expanse of level, fertile land reached by Yuan Ming's westward Human Race migration. A great river crosses its deep-black soil, while abundant waters, grasslands, and forests support settlement and farming 8.

Its spiritual qi is gentler and more balanced than that of the Shore of the East Sea, making it especially suitable for Postnatal Humans cultivating through breathing exercises. Yuan Ming identifies dense earth-vein qi and a concealed dragon vein linking the four directions, characterizing the region as a natural “center of heaven and earth” 8.

• Located in the western portion of the Primordial World; it lies directly southwest of the Buzhou Mountain Ruins 7 21.
• Its vast scale prevents Yuan Ming from protecting every scattered Human Race settlement by himself 8.
• The region was not unclaimed when the Human Race arrived; four established Demon Clans already occupied it 9.

History

Human Race settlement

Yuan Ming leads one million Postnatal Humans westward from the Shore of the East Sea. After surviving ferocious beasts, poisonous miasma, and baleful qi during the migration, the host crosses a mountain range and discovers the Central Plains 7 8.

Declaring it the Human Race’s new home, Yuan Ming selects defensible high ground backed by mountains and facing the great river for the first settlement. Using his True Immortal power and the Heaven-Earth-Human Forty-Nine Return-to-Truth Method, he levels terrain and raises the outline of a city 8.

The settlers establish agriculture by identifying edible plants and sowing seeds. They also improve tools and clothing, while Yuan Ming discreetly uses gentle Solar True Fire to dispel dampness, promote crops, and temper the clansmen’s bodies 8.

Yuan Ming later reconstructs the Heaven-Devouring Dao Scripture into the Human-exclusive Dao Scripture within the Central Plains Ancestral Temple. The method can only be cultivated by Human Race bodies and souls; other races attempting it suffer reversed meridians and qi deviation 8.

Relations with the Four Demon Clans

The Central Plains’ preexisting powers are the Azure Ox Clan, Ghost Lion Clan, Calamity Hound Clan, and Black Ox Clan. Their long-standing balance is disrupted by the arrival of the million-strong Human Race 9.

The Azure Ox Clan invites Yuan Ming to the Great Demon Banquet at Azure Ox Ridge, where the four clans intend to test their new neighbors. Yuan Ming attends despite recognizing the danger, seeking to establish that the Human Race cannot be easily subdued 9.

Following Yuan Ming’s Dao debate and exposition of the Taiji Great Dao, Black Xiong, Dou Cang, and Hei Tian abandon talk of keeping Humans captive. The three demon kings subsequently seek Yuan Ming’s cultivation guidance 10 11.

Three thousand years of growth

With cultivation methods, resources, and a stable position among neighboring clans, the Human Race prospers for three thousand years. Its settlements expand from one city to nine, arranged as a protective formation across the fertile lands 11.

Several Primordial Humans reach the True Immortal Realm, while tens of thousands of Postnatal Humans return to the Innate Realm and enter the immortal path 11. Before departing to seek a breakthrough, Yuan Ming entrusts the region to Hua Qi and instructs him to prioritize preservation and cooperate with clans such as the Azure Ox Clan in a crisis 11.

Witch–Demon battle

While Yuan Ming is away at Longevity Mountain, forces of the Witch Race and Demon Race clash in the Central Plains. Their battle destroys Human Race walls, homes, villages, and fields; the local population is caught in the aftermath rather than treated as a party to the conflict 21.

Yuan Ming returns to find the region reduced to scorched ruins and uses Taiji Pacifies the World to protect surviving clansmen 22. The Witch Race ultimately wins the battle, then leaves without regard for the devastation inflicted on the Central Plains’ inhabitants 23.

The Human Race population had grown from the original million settlers to more than one hundred million before the disaster. Sixty million deaths are reported after the battle, leaving the region’s former prosperity shattered 23.

Settlements and landmarks

• First Human Race city — Built on high ground backed by mountains and facing the great river; Yuan Ming personally shapes its initial terrain and defenses 8.
• Ancestral Temple of the Central Plains — Yuan Ming’s place of seclusion while creating the Dao Scripture for the Human Race 8.
• Nine Human Race cities — Expanded from the original settlement and arranged in a protective formation after three thousand years of development 11.
• Human Race Monument — A towering blood-red stele erected at the center of Human Race territory after the Witch–Demon battle. It bears only the character “Human” and commemorates the race’s suffering and resolve 23 24.

Inhabitants and neighboring powers

• Human Race — The principal settlers, initially numbering one million migrants under Yuan Ming; they develop agriculture, cities, and Human-exclusive cultivation inheritance in the region 8.
• Azure Ox Clan — One of the four original Demon Clan powers; described as powerful and relatively mild-tempered 9.
• Ghost Lion Clan — A local Demon Clan known for speed and inscrutable methods 9.
• Calamity Hound Clan — A local Demon Clan with an innate ability to bring disasters 9.
• Black Ox Clan — A hot-tempered local Demon Clan prone to direct confrontation 9.

Reconstruction

After the battle, Hua Qi organizes the surviving clansmen’s reconstruction. Their grief gradually turns into greater resolve, while Yuan Ming continues cultivating and develops the Human Immortal Martial Dao rather than forcing an unstable breakthrough 24.

Grand Pure One Laozi observes the Human Race’s persistence in the Central Plains, establishes the Human Teaching, and elevates the Four-Step Breathing Method into the Golden Core Great Dao for Postnatal Humans 24.
