A arrives with Killer B and Hidden Cloud ANBU after the destruction of the underground Lightning Ore mine. Seeing Yugito injured amid the ruins, he attacks Naruto with Heavy Style: Lariat. Naruto blocks the blow directly, then opens the Gate of Life to push back against A’s Lightning Release-enhanced strength. 186

Killer B later reveals evidence that a Hidden Cloud ANBU radical faction was involved in the incident. A recognizes the faction’s identifying mark, weakening the immediate hostility between the two sides. 187

Land of Iron negotiations

A represents Hidden Cloud at the Land of Iron fortress during negotiations involving Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Mifune, Darui, and Samui. He initially reacts aggressively to an apparent Hidden Leaf provocation, but accepts Naruto’s demand for reciprocal inspections after the supposed evidence is identified as part of a third-party plot. 228
