Background / History

Xia Mingxuan originates from a martial world five hundred years before the present setting. He trained in a sect from childhood and later roamed alone with a spear. He was killed after leaving his sect without building a power base capable of protecting him from enemies. 38

After his death, he reincarnated into the body of a frail six-year-old boy also named Xia Mingxuan. The child died from a congenital heart condition after several difficult years, leaving the reincarnated Xia Mingxuan to continue living under his identity. 38

While unconscious, Xia Mingxuan dreamed of a book depicting Gu Lin's future and his entanglement with Mu Xiaomu, the “Divine Sweetheart Omega.” He investigated and confirmed that Mu Xiaomu existed and resembled the person described in the book. The world prevented him from warning Gu Lin or remaining in the country unless Gu Lin permitted it. 38

He lived abroad for five years, apparently managing Ningli's overseas branch. During that time, he repeatedly attempted to return after learning that Gu Lin had found an Omega with exceptionally high compatibility, but could not do so until Gu Lin called him back to act against Gu Corporation. 27 34 37

Xia Mingxuan is outspoken, theatrical, and irreverent, especially around Gu Lin. He habitually calls himself Gu Lin's “big brother,” needles him about his relationship, and treats formal boundaries casually. 27 34 37 47

Beneath his unserious manner, he is intensely loyal to Gu Lin. His knowledge of the book's original plot makes him determined to prevent Gu Lin from becoming entangled with Mu Xiaomu, and he actively pushes Gu Lin to acknowledge and pursue Lin Su rather than lose him through silence. 38

He can also recognize when he has crossed a line. After abruptly hugging Lin Su and triggering Gu Lin's Alpha instincts, he accepts that his behavior constituted sexual harassment, gives Lin Su a deep apology, and offers to take further punches as recompense. 35

Gu Lin's “Strategist”
