Background / History

Jiang Qiao was raised as Jiang Zhenhai’s adopted son alongside Jiang Zhenhai’s daughter, Jiang Ci. Before entering the Jiang household, he had lived as a slave; he later became a fighter who survived by competing in underground rings. Jiang Zhenhai treats him as family and intends to leave him the company shares and fighting ring, but Jiang Qiao destroys the will and refuses the inheritance, insisting that he has his own plans. Those plans are to enter the Shi family and pursue Shi Junyi. 4

His years in the ring made him exceptionally dangerous in close combat. During a bout observed by Shi Xiao’an, Jiang Qiao defeats a much larger Russian fighter through speed, leverage, and relentless striking. Impressed, Shi Xiao’an agrees to Jiang Zhenhai’s request to find Jiang Qiao a position within the Shi family. 4

After being abducted and brought before Shi Junyi, Jiang Qiao seizes the opportunity to become a bodyguard. He is initially issued bodyguard attire and equipment, then draws the assignment that places him in Shi Junyi’s vehicle. Although he serves around Shi Junyi, he later learns that his official assignment remains under Shi Jiao’s name. 5 6 33

Appearance

Jiang Qiao is a tall, distinctly masculine young man with sharp brows, defined features, broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs, and a notably toned abdomen. His looks carry a cynical, playboyish charm rather than Fu Zhilan’s delicate and androgynous beauty. 3

  • His physique is the result of years of boxing and fighting-ring experience. 4 39
  • He has a dimple that appears when he smiles. 7
  • He has endured many past injuries; most of his old scars have faded, though new wounds remain visible when he protects Shi Junyi. 9 10
  • His skin is less fair and smooth than Fu Zhilan’s, something Jiang Qiao openly dismisses as unimportant. 3
  • He favors a deliberately attractive presentation, including roses, skincare, perfume, and carefully selected outfits when visiting Shi Junyi. 24 45 46

Personality

Jiang Qiao is bold, combative, and difficult to intimidate. He reacts particularly badly to disrespect: when a thug crushes his leopard keychain and throws money at him, Jiang Qiao retaliates by incapacitating the gang rather than accepting the payment. 2 He also refuses Jiang Zhenhai’s wealth because he wants to choose his own path. 4

His confidence is paired with a reckless streak. He drugs Sang Ye during an assignment, provokes Shi Youxi through a clandestine magazine scheme, attacks Sang Ye in the fighting arena, and challenges a trainer who attempts to discipline him. He can recognize when he has crossed a line, however; after Shi Junyi confronts him over drugging Sang Ye, Jiang Qiao admits fault and agrees not to repeat it. 7 10 22 39

Despite his flirtatious and shameless exterior, Jiang Qiao is intensely protective of people he considers his own. He sustains injuries while helping Shi Junyi escape an attack, intervenes when Shi Youxi abuses Zhao Xu, and forms an immediate understanding with Zhao Xu over their shared experience of being “domesticated” by powerful people. 9 10 44

Jealousy is one of his most destabilizing traits. Fu Zhilan’s proximity to Shi Junyi distracts him during training, while Duan Xu’s engagement to Shi Junyi drives him to openly attempt to persuade her not to marry Shi Junyi. 27 48 49 50

Abilities & Skills

A former underground boxer, Jiang Qiao combines fast striking, unorthodox movement, and ruthless practical fighting instincts.

Infiltration and Improvisation

Jiang Qiao adapts quickly in hostile environments, though his methods are often dangerous.

  • Infiltrates Ma Wen’s guarded estate through ventilation ducts while Shen Guiyi provides remote tracking and directions. 16
  • Uses concealment, hostage-taking, and rapid improvisation after Ma Wen detects him. 17
  • Assassinating Ma Wen with a thrown dagger, he escapes a third-floor window under gunfire. 17
  • Uses erratic movement, an F-1 defensive grenade, and covering fire to reach Shen Guiyi’s extraction vehicle. 17 18

Manipulation and Social Engineering

Jiang Qiao frequently uses charm, deception, and provocation to exploit others’ weaknesses.

  • Arranges for Sang Ye to drink orange juice containing multiple laxatives, then feigns earpiece interference when Sang Ye requests relief. 7
  • Exploits Shi Youxi’s interests by offering illicit magazines, creating an opening to approach Zhao Xu and gather leverage. 22 23
  • Extracts additional payment from Shi Youxi’s intermediary through physical intimidation. 23 24
  • Alters his appearance and behavior to present himself to Shi Junyi as more harmless, attractive, or emotionally distant when it suits his plans. 45 46
