Shi Junyi is the Shi family’s eldest son. His full sister, Shi Jiao, is aligned with him within the family, while his younger half-brother Shi Youxi is the son of his stepmother, Su Min. The family’s internal succession conflict later makes Shi Junyi’s planned marriage alliance with Duan Xu politically important. 6 33 45

An incident in his childhood left Shi Junyi able to hear other people’s thoughts through physical contact. The ability, combined with his tendency to see through others’ motives, made him guarded toward intimate relationships; he deliberately avoids relying on it when possible. 10 27 29

Shi Junyi meets Jiang Qiao during a dangerous encounter and later has him kidnapped for a test involving a shark tank. Impressed by Jiang Qiao’s nerve and resourcefulness, he offers him work as a male bodyguard. 3 5

Attack and Escape

After a banquet, Shi Junyi refuses to wait for Sang Ye, who has failed to return from the restroom. During the ensuing ambush, Jiang Qiao helps him escape the attackers by jumping from the moving car and fleeing on a motorcycle. 8

Training, Surveillance, and Trust

Shi Junyi equips Jiang Qiao, teaches him to shoot, and places him in formal bodyguard training.
