Hermione suddenly tugged on Chu Yang's sleeve and asked in a low voice, "Can you tell me what actually happened? I don't believe that many people would stay in the Common Room all night for no reason. What were they trying to accomplish?"

"I heard Slytherin Common Room is beneath the Black Lake. It's dark and cold down there. What could possibly be fun about it?"

Hermione thought more like an adult. In fact, even Professor McGonagall did not quite believe that explanation, so as soon as class ended, she went to the infirmary to visit Malfoy as well.

Chu Yang could not be bothered to make up an excuse. Sooner or later, people would find out that he had beaten them up anyway.

It was not as though those people had lost their memories after being knocked unconscious.

So Chu Yang simply told her everything. "They blocked me at the dormitory door last night and said I wasn't a Pure-blood, that I wasn't qualified to stay in Slytherin. They wanted to make trouble for me. I was tired and sleepy at the time and only wanted to sleep, so how could I have time to fool around with them? I could only invite them all out."

Hearing that, Hermione stopped walking and stared at Chu Yang with her mouth agape. "When you say 'invite'... do you mean the usual kind of invite?"

Chu Yang thought about it, then shook his head. "There was a tiny difference."

"Probably more than a tiny difference, right?" Hermione took a deep breath, feeling as though the temperature around them had suddenly dropped several degrees. "The school will hold you accountable for beating up fellow students. Aren't you afraid?"

"How could one person be beating up so many people? It was more like they were beating me up. I was defending myself." Chu Yang rolled his eyes and spread his hands helplessly. "Was I supposed to just stand there and let them bully me?"

"That's true. They were the ones who started it!" The thought of Chu Yang being ostracized by the other Slytherin first-years because he was not a Pure-blood immediately struck a chord with Hermione, and she could not help feeling indignant on his behalf.

The two chatted about what had happened the night before as they made their way into the classroom.

"Isn't Hermione one of us Gryffindors? Why is she always hanging around Chu Yang?" Ron watched Hermione and Chu Yang chatting so happily, and suddenly felt uncomfortable.

"We're all classmates. There's no need to draw such clear lines, is there? Besides, they probably have more in common. They're both smart and knowledgeable," Harry replied matter-of-factly, seeing nothing wrong with it at all.

After their experience in Transfiguration Class, the first-years hurried to their seats as soon as they entered the classroom, afraid of drawing Professor Snape's criticism.

Compared with Professor McGonagall's sternness and meticulousness, Professor Snape felt far more frightening—dark and sinister. It seemed that no matter who angered him, they would suffer an especially miserable punishment.

Only after all the students had taken their seats did Professor Snape enter from outside the classroom.

He strode in with his robes billowing in the wind.

He might have thought he looked handsome, but to Chu Yang, he looked like a giant fluttering moth the moment he came through the door...

"This class does not require you to wave your wands about like fools, nor does it require you to mutter spells blindly. I doubt many of you understand how to appreciate the profound science and precise craft of brewing potions."

Professor Snape leaned against the desk, making no effort to conceal the coldness on his face. Just as he was about to continue, his gaze swept over the room and he realized that quite a few students were missing.

"This is not the first class of the morning, is it? Why are so many people late?" Professor Snape looked at the empty seats, his voice filled with anger. "And they're Slytherin students?!"

Professor Snape slammed his palm heavily onto the desk with a bang, making everyone's hearts jolt.

Just then, a knock suddenly sounded from outside.

Professor Snape, who had been about to continue berating the students, frowned. Anyone would be displeased at having their mood for speaking interrupted.

Professor Snape straightened his clothes, then swept to the door like the wind and opened it. Outside stood Professor McGonagall, who had returned from the infirmary.

Professor McGonagall first looked into the classroom. When she saw Chu Yang, she revealed a helpless expression, then gestured for Professor Snape to come outside and speak with her.

As Professor McGonagall explained why the Slytherin first-years were absent, Snape was initially somewhat bewildered before falling silent.

The students whispered among themselves, wondering why Professor McGonagall had called Snape out in the middle of his lesson.

At their age, they were curious about everything.

About five minutes later, Professor Snape finally returned to the classroom with a strange expression on his face.

He did not head for the podium. Instead, he walked straight over to Chu Yang and stared at him coldly.

"Mr. Chu Yang, could you tell me how you managed to make the students from several dormitories unable to attend class the next day with nothing but your fists?"

"I am truly curious. But do not tell me that an orphan like you understands Eastern martial arts as well. That would be rather ridiculous!"

Snape openly mocked Chu Yang without restraint, and his words had already caused a huge uproar in the classroom!

The reason those Slytherin students had been unable to come to class was that Chu Yang had beaten them up!

For a moment, the room erupted with noise!

Harry and Ron were so shocked their mouths hung open. Their gazes toward Chu Yang were filled with admiration. Good heavens, he had taken down that many people all by himself?

Just yesterday, Ron had told Harry that if a non-Pure-blood wizard like Chu Yang went to Slytherin, his fate would definitely not be pretty.

Harry had also been worried about Chu Yang's situation.

When he saw Chu Yang safe and sound that morning, he had secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

As one of the only two orphans in their year, Harry could not help feeling a sense of shared sorrow if something happened to Chu Yang.

Of the three great point-losers, Hermione was the calmest, having already learned the truth from Chu Yang. Even so, she was still worried about him, because Professor Snape looked extremely angry.

Chu Yang stood up and replied calmly, "Professor Snape, I truly do not know martial arts. But as you said, I came from an orphanage. The environment there was not very good, and fighting was a required course for every child."

"Besides, with all due respect, a wizard without a wand who cannot cast spells is not much stronger than a Muggle..."

Chu Yang's comparison between Muggles and wizards directly enraged Snape.

He strode forward, stopping almost face-to-face with Chu Yang.

"You have made a serious mistake, Mr. Chu Yang!"

Snape glared at Chu Yang viciously and shouted, "Do not think that fists can solve everything. They can now, but what about two or three months from now? When those first-years you bullied pick up their wands and learn spells, how will you deal with them then? With your fists again?"

The confrontation between Snape and Chu Yang made the already cold Dungeon even more unbearable. The first-years watched them in terror, so nervous that they barely dared to breathe.
