A Way Out

Riley finished speaking and slumped to the floor, his face blank.

Qin Ran raised an eyebrow.

The name Komde meant nothing to him. It had not appeared in the brief memories he had received.

But the title "king of the underworld" said enough.

"The Sphendic Conglomerate has a bounty on us!"

"So what difference does adding this Mr. Big make?"

Qin Ran asked without betraying his thoughts.

He needed to know more about Mr. Big.

"Of course it makes a difference!"

"If the Sphendic Conglomerate rules this city by day,"

"Then Mr. Big rules it by night!"

"When only the Sphendic Conglomerate wanted us, we still had a slim chance. Now we've crossed Mr. Big too. We really have nowhere left to run!"

Riley looked ready to burst into tears.

"Who says we have nowhere to run?"

Seeing the information broker give up completely, Qin Ran shook his head. Fear had taken hold of Riley and driven him to despair, leaving him blind to the crucial point.

"You're Shadow's Sting. Of course you have a way out!"

"Even if you can't escape, both the Sphendic Conglomerate and Mr. Big would gladly accept your allegiance!"

"But I'm different!"

"I'm just an information broker! To those two giants, I'm no better than useless!"

His own words seemed to strike a nerve, and Riley could no longer hold back his tears.

"Enough. Wipe your eyes!"

"You can cry when you're dying!"

"Haven't you noticed our way out?"

Qin Ran snapped.

He hated seeing people cry, especially men.

"A way out?"

"You mean to assassinate someone at the top of the Sphendic Conglomerate?"

"Don't even think about it! The conglomerate's security force practically rivals an army. Even Shadow's Sting couldn't pull that off!"

Despite Qin Ran's hint, Riley was still too gripped by fear
