The figure that fell from the sky was extremely agile. With a flip in midair, she landed steadily on the ground.
She was a woman with a somewhat bedraggled appearance, more than half of her dress already damaged. She could not have been older than twenty-five.
She had long chestnut-brown hair and eyes of the same color. In her hand was a short sword stained with blood and chipped from repeated strikes.
Just from that short sword alone, Qin Ran could imagine the brutal battle she had gone through.
As Qin Ran sized her up, she spotted him as well. She warily took two steps back, raising her short sword into a defensive stance.
"Who are you?"
she demanded.
Qin Ran did not answer and instead looked upward.
A hole large enough for one person to pass through had appeared in the ceiling.
"Was this the entrance and exit used by the assassins?"
Qin Ran guessed as he prepared to investigate.
"That's a dead end!"
The woman warned Qin Ran after seeing what he intended to do. But when she saw him continue to leap upward, she could not help but snort coldly.
Then, she bent down and began searching the ground.
Fifteen minutes later, Qin Ran returned.
His furrowed brow was not only due to discovering that the passage had been blocked at its end, but also because he had found several other things worthy of notice.
