The powerfully built Gell planted his two-handed sword in the earth before him, then turned to take the rope that two soldiers had carried over together. It was as thick as an adult's arm.
A metallic sheen glimmered within the rope. Clearly, something other than hemp fibers had been woven into it.
At the other end was an enormous grappling hook forged from refined iron, heavy and sharp.
"Hah!"
Gripping the rope, Gell let out a forceful shout.
The next moment, the thick, heavy rope began whirling with a low howl as Gell rotated his wrist. When it reached maximum speed, he abruptly let go.

Clack!
The hooked end of the rope flew straight ahead. The grappling hook easily cleared the drawbridge and caught the planks on its inner side.
Gell gave it a hard tug. Once he saw that the rope was taut, he gestured to Baron Sgenai beside him.
"Pull!"
The baron roared with a vicious grin.
Immediately, the dozen or so warhorses tied to the other end of the rope began running under the soldiers' whips.
The thick rope stretched into a straight line, creaking incessantly, while the raised drawbridge swayed with the noise.
Arrows flew from the tower opposite them again.
Against the raised shields, however, they were useless.
Instead, they only exposed the archer's position.
Whoosh!
When another arrow came flying, Gell, already prepared, immediately returned fire.
Everyone faintly heard a cry of pain from inside the tower opposite them.
They cheered at the sound.
The savage expressions on their faces grew even more pronounced.
An entire day of attacks had left these ferocious soldiers seething with rage. Now they wanted nothing more than to tear their accursed target apart.
Crack, crack!
