Insects!
Black, brown, red.
Horned, many-legged, pincered.
They swarmed in dense, overlapping layers, surging toward Qin Ran, Mary, and Bosco like a tidal wave. Yet at the last moment, just before they spilled out of the forest, they all stopped.
A lilting flute melody sounded through the forest, and the insects grew quiet, as though they had fallen asleep.
But Qin Ran could clearly sense the theatrics behind it.

A moment later, a figure flickered into view among the trees and the shadows of the insects.
"Bosco, do you think you can escape?"
A cold, sinister voice rang out from behind the layers of cover.
"Samara, I wasn't trying to escape. I was merely keeping my distance for a while..."
Standing behind Qin Ran, Bosco smiled as he tried to placate the other man, all while stealing glances at Qin Ran.
By now, the royal envoy had completely lost his composure.
Although he had understood how dangerous this journey would be when he left the royal capital, he had never imagined that person would actually send the Insect Master.

A deep sense of regret welled up in Bosco's heart.
