Background / History

Before entering the Underground Game, Lawless was a real-world assassin. He eventually attempted to leave that life; when his former organization sent Canary's brother and an operations team after him, Lawless killed them and destroyed the organization. He later admitted that survivors had come back seeking revenge, though he withheld parts of the story. 367

Lawless was a beta tester and survived the period surrounding Cornelia the Witch's rebellion. He credited Broker's forum warning—issued after the Beginner Instance—with helping him survive when many players ignored it. 70 101

His early dungeon experiences repeatedly left him poorly equipped for the setting: firearms became useless in cold-weapon worlds, while swords proved inadequate against futuristic weapons and spacecraft.
