Doctor Strange said.
"It seemed Ebony Maw was already dead. What a pity—I'd suffered heavy losses today." Thanos shook his head with a self-deprecating smile, then strode toward Doctor Strange.
"Still, he completed his task and brought you before me as promised."
Thanos's gaze settled on the Eye of Agamotto hanging around Strange's neck.
He knew it was the magical vessel containing the Time Stone he sought.
"Is that so? I don't think it'll be a good thing for you..." Strange paused, then said darkly, "Because he brought you here to face a sorcerer head-on."
"You know, I've met countless confident wizards like you." Thanos moved slowly but steadily toward Strange, one step at a time, a confident yet peaceful smile on his face. "In the end, they either submitted to me, or—"
"Death."
Thanos put slight emphasis on that final word, his tone brimming with absolute confidence. His rugged appearance somehow seemed almost elegant in that moment.
"Is that so? But the sorcerer you met today is me. More precisely, I'm a mage from Earth—the Sorcerer Supreme of Kamar-Taj."
"Oh, the Sorcerer Supreme. I deeply regret what happened to that mage, Ancient One. She should have been able to live much longer."
A faint smile appeared on Thanos's face as he stopped a short distance directly in front of Strange. He stepped forward with his right foot onto a wrecked spaceship component, his seemingly casual gaze sweeping over the surroundings.
The "assassins" concealed in the shadows immediately became even more careful, drawing in their forms and hiding in Thanos's blind spots to avoid revealing themselves too soon.
