Background / History
Saint Nerona Imu has ruled the world for more than eight centuries. He is credited with defeating the Ancient Kingdom, Joy Boy, and Davy D. Jones, then establishing the World Government with the support of the other founding kings. His long reign and immortality leave him isolated; he spends periods in slumber and occasionally reads manga, storybooks, and novels for entertainment. 5 10 49
Tang Ming's sudden appearance in the Flower Room of Pangaea Castle draws Imu's attention. Initially judging the intruder too weak to be useful, Imu orders Manmayer Gunko to dispose of him. Tang Ming survives by claiming that their world is a manga, prompting Imu to bind him with a Shallow-Sea Contract in an attempt to inspect his memories. 1
Imu escalates Tang Ming's contract through the Deep-Sea and Deepest-Sea levels after discovering that he cannot read or alter the transmigrator's memories. Though this anomaly remains unresolved, Imu retains control over Tang Ming's life, body, and contract-granted powers. 2
After Tang Ming identifies the Nika Fruit's user and reveals future events, Imu grants him the name Saint Germain Sumer and the status of a Celestial Dragon. Imu convenes the Five Elders, permits Sumer to disclose his knowledge, and orders Saint Marcus Mars to investigate Sky Island and recover key targets and artifacts. 3 5
The Sky Island expedition confirms Sumer's claims concerning Enel, Golden City Shandora, and Poseidon's Poneglyph. Faced with proof that his world may be fiction created by an author, Imu becomes enraged and resolves to reach the “real world,” confront the manga's author, and become a true creator god. 9 10
After Sumer helps locate Pluton's blueprints in Water 7, Imu rewards him with a teleportation magic circle capable of summoning members of God's Knights. Imu later personally possesses Sumer to pursue Monkey D. Dragon after Dragon abducts him. 22 49 50

Personality
Imu is cold, imposing, and initially dismissive toward those he considers insignificant. He is nevertheless intensely curious when confronted with something unprecedented, as shown by his fascination with Sumer's unreadable memories and claims about the world's fictional nature. 1 2
He values proven merit and practical information. Imu refuses to punish Saint Jaygarcia Saturn for a future that has not yet occurred, rewards Sumer after the recovery of Pluton's blueprints, and expects subordinates to substantiate their claims. 5 22
The revelation that he may be a manga character profoundly destabilizes him. His desire to transcend the world of fiction becomes a central motive, leading him to seek a route to Earth and identify the manga's author as “Oda.” 10 22
Abilities & Skills
Abyss Contract
Imu administers the Abyss Contract, a three-tier binding system: Shallow-Sea, Deep-Sea, and Deepest-Sea. Even the lowest tier grants immense power and immortality, with the benefits increasing at higher levels. 1 2
- Can control a contractor's life and death. 2
- Can normally read, shape, and alter a contractor's thoughts, memories, and understanding. 2
- Grants enhanced physical power and regenerative immortality. 1 2

- Sumer is an exception: even under a Deepest-Sea Contract, Imu cannot read his memories or alter his cognition. 2 14
