Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
Light bullets poured down from the sky like a torrential downpour.
Every single one had enough power to flatten a house.
This was indiscriminate carpet bombing.
Kahn stood at the center of the rain of light.
He neither dodged nor retreated. Instead, he spread his arms.
As if embracing a lover.
Boom, boom, boom!
The fiery explosions completely engulfed him.
The ground trembled, and even the edge of the Red Line crumbled beneath that terrifying barrage.
Borsalino bombarded the area for a full minute.
Only after the entire region had become scorched earth did he stop.
"That should have killed him, right?"
He muttered to himself.
But the very next second.
His pupils shrank sharply to pinpoints.
Amid the smoke and flames filling the sky.
Two crimson lights lit up.
Then.
That blurry figure slowly rose into the air.
His clothes were in tatters, yet his skin did not bear even the slightest wound.
Not only was he unhurt.
After absorbing too much light energy, golden vapor was actually pouring off his entire body.
"Burp~"
Kahn let out a satisfied burp.
It was a reaction to energy overload.
He felt unbelievably good right now.
He even wanted to find a planet and push it around for fun.
"Thanks for the meal, old man."
Kahn vanished.
It was not teleportation.
It was simply pure physical speed.
Borsalino only felt his vision go dark.
That blurry fist had already slammed into his stomach.
This time.
Kahn used Armament Haki.
It was not much, but it was enough to seize the body of a Logia user.
Bang!
Borsalino's entire body bent like a shrimp.
His eyeballs nearly popped out.
An irresistible monstrous force exploded in his abdomen.
He became a golden meteor and crashed straight through a Celestial Dragon palace behind him.
Rumble!
The ruins buried everything.
Kahn hovered in midair and glanced at the pile of rubble.
He knew that punch would not kill Borsalino.
If Admirals died that easily, the Navy would have been wiped out in the New World long ago.
"I'm full today, so I won't play with you anymore."
Kahn sensed several powerful auras approaching from afar.
One of them seemed to belong to that old monster, Steel Bone Kong.
If those people surrounded him, he would not be afraid, but it would be easy to expose his identity.
Then it would be difficult to explain things to Garp.
Kahn raised his head toward the heavens.
He kicked off the air.
The air exploded into a massive ring-shaped sonic boom cloud.
His body shot into the sky like an intercontinental missile fired in reverse.
Leaving behind only a few words echoing above Mary Geoise.
"Remember this, Navy."
"The next time we meet, make sure you turn the lights up brighter."
Within the ruins.
Borsalino pushed away the slab pressing down on him.
A trace of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, and he looked utterly bedraggled.
But he could not spare the attention to wipe it away.
He only stared fixedly at the black dot disappearing over the horizon.
"That monster..."
"What on earth did he grow up eating?"
The ruins were deathly silent.
Only the occasional sound of rubble rolling down could be heard.
At the bottom of the huge crater Kahn had punched out, movement finally emerged.
A hand stretched out from the heap of rubble.
Yellow photons still clung to it, but their glow had clearly dimmed considerably.
Borsalino shoved aside half a marble pillar pressing against him.
He coughed twice.
The bloody taste in his mouth made him frown deeply.
That hurt far too much.
Ever since he had eaten the Glint-Glint Fruit, only Zephyr, his hot-tempered teacher, had beaten him up a few times.
Even when fighting those great pirates in the New World, he had rarely suffered such a heavy loss thanks to his light-speed movement.
Yet today, he had actually fallen at the hands of some brat who had appeared out of nowhere.
Borsalino touched his stomach.
It was still burning with pain.
That punch had not merely contained Armament Haki.
That force had passed through his body and directly shaken his internal organs.
"What terrible luck..."
Borsalino slowly climbed out of the crater.
His formerly crisp yellow pinstriped suit had now become strips of rags.
One lens of his sunglasses had shattered as well.
He looked like a down-and-out middle-aged man who had just been mugged.
He looked up at the sky.
That blurry golden figure had long since vanished.
He ran fast.
Or rather, he flew fast.
The shockwave cloud left behind from breaking the sound barrier still hung on the horizon.
The surrounding fires were still burning.
The screams of Celestial Dragons carried over from the distant palace complex.
Yet the cliffside here was terrifyingly quiet.
Because every living person was dead.
Only the charred corpses of CP0 agents remained.
Just as Borsalino was preparing to find somewhere to sit and rest for a while.
An incomparably terrifying aura bore down from the other end of the Red Line.
That aura was violent and heavy.
Like an ancient tyrannosaurus charging at full speed.
Thump!
Thump!
Thump!
The ground began to shake rhythmically.
Borsalino sighed.
A troublesome big shot had arrived.
A few seconds later.
A massive black shadow descended from the sky.
Rumble—!
The ground was crushed beneath a single stomp.
Dust surged in every direction.
An elderly man as solidly built as a small mountain appeared in the center of the ruins.
His head of white hair stood wildly on end.
The bulging muscles across his body stretched the commander's uniform representing the World Government's highest combat power to the point of bursting.
Steel Bone Kong.
Commander-in-Chief of the World Government's entire military.
In the previous era, he had used his fists to beat even monsters like Red Count Redfield into submission.
Kong's expression was so grim it seemed water could drip from it.
He looked at the devastation around him.
Especially when he saw the CP0 agents who had died such miserable deaths, the veins on his forehead throbbed wildly.
This was Mary Geoise.
The residence of the gods.
For eight hundred years, aside from that damned Fisher Tiger, no one had ever dared cause trouble here.
And today.
Someone had massacred people here.
Not only had they massacred them, they had slaughtered every elite CP0 guard.
This was a slap in the World Government's face.
And not just one slap—it was a barrage of slaps across both cheeks.
"Borsalino!"
Kong's voice boomed like thunder.
He turned around and stared fiercely at the ragged Kizaru.
"Where is that Fish-Man?"
"And where is the attacker?"
Borsalino spread his hands.
He pulled off his ruined sunglasses, revealing a pair of helpless, dead-fish eyes.
"They escaped."
"They all escaped."
Kong's fist clenched violently.
The air burst with a sharp explosion in his palm.
"They escaped?"
"At this range, you actually let them escape?"
"Fine, forget Fisher Tiger. Who was that attacker?"
"Who dared kill people in Mary Geoise and beat you into this state? Did Whitebeard come here himself?"
In Kong's understanding.
Apart from the few monsters standing at the pinnacle of the sea, very few people could injure a Logia user like Borsalino so badly.
Borsalino shook his head.
He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
His movements remained unhurried, but his voice held far less of its usual teasing tone.
"It wasn't Whitebeard."
"Nor was it Kaido or Big Mom."
"It wasn't even any great pirate recorded in our intelligence archives."
