Background / History

Shiki was a member of the Rocks Pirates and participated in the God Valley Incident. Following Rocks's death and the crew's collapse, he escaped with Silver Axe and Babel aboard a reclaimed Rocks ship, carrying treasure looted from God Valley. He immediately proposed that the three pursue Rocks's old ambition of conquering the world. 22 27

After encountering the Roger Pirates in the West Blue, Shiki briefly fought Gol D. Roger before attempting to recruit him. Roger rejected the offer, citing Shiki's ruthlessness, extremism, and unreliability. During their later drinking session, Shiki revealed that Charlotte Linlin possessed a red Poneglyph at Cake Island, earning Roger's promise of a future favor. 23 25 26

Shiki subsequently established the Flying Pirates with Silver Axe and Babel. The crew's concentration of former Rocks officers made it one of the pirate factions most widely expected to dominate the post-Rocks era. 30

He is pragmatic when it serves his ambitions: he offered Whitebeard a truce after years of warfare, divided territory with him, and shifted his attention toward obtaining information on the Ancient Weapons. However, Shiki is notorious for breaking promises and is willing to threaten entire countries, including Elbaf, to coerce powerful figures into serving him. 120 154

Shiki fights Roger's crew, attempts to recruit Roger, and provides the lead that Cake Island holds a red Poneglyph. Roger refuses Shiki's alliance proposal but acknowledges that he owes Shiki a favor for the information. 23 25 26

Battle of Lindelande Island

Shiki waits at Lindelande Island for Whitebeard and launches Lion's Majesty: Sea Surge against an incoming tsunami. The resulting conflict draws in Whitebeard, Roger, Walde, and Marine forces, preventing Shiki and Whitebeard from settling their rivalry decisively. 78 80 120

Truce with Whitebeard

Shiki and Whitebeard end their prolonged conflict on Diarank Island, agreeing to cease hostilities and divide territory. Shiki privately views the truce as an opportunity to pursue greater power, particularly intelligence tied to Roger and the Ancient Weapons. 120
