Background

Tony led Stark Industries before becoming Iron Man. Peter Parker briefly considered him as an investor for Parker Tech, but dismissed the idea because Tony was still known primarily as a wealthy, unreliable playboy rather than a hero 28.

Kidnapped by the Ten Rings in Afghanistan, Tony and Dr. Yinsen built the Mark I from scrap metal. Peter monitored their work, deliberately waiting until the armor was complete before intervening.
