An Unstable Variable

"Forgive me for speaking frankly," the queen interjected. "Do you have technology at that level? I don't mean to doubt you, but you're a sorcerer, and..."

"I understand your concerns," Ian said with a nod. "I'm not only a sorcerer, but also a seeker of knowledge. I've traveled to many dimensions and worlds, including ones with highly advanced technological civilizations." He waved his hand, conjuring holographic renderings of the technology he would give them.

T'Chaka gestured for Chief Scientist Makana to examine them, and he immediately began reviewing the information. Less than five minutes later, he shook his head and sighed in disappointment.

"Is something wrong?" the king asked.

"I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but this knowledge is beyond my comprehension."

"What are you talking about?"

"It all seems genuine, but it's beyond the limits of what I can understand."

"Sorry," Ian said, remembering that not everyone was Tony Stark. In fact, even Tony Stark might not be able to grasp technology this advanced without years of study or a sufficient foundation of knowledge. Ian raised his hand and summoned a helmet.

"This contains a few lessons that will help you understand the technology I'm offering." Ian thought of something and summoned a second helmet. "As far as I know, the princess is very talented, too. This one is for her."

Makana took the helmet and put it on before the king could warn him. He stood in the middle of the room with his eyes closed. Everyone waited for more than ten minutes before he finally awoke. "Can civilizations this advanced really exist?" Makana murmured.

"My apologies, Your Majesty," he said hurriedly, realizing he'd let himself get carried away.
